Shiloh Nouvel Jolie was already one of the most famous babies in the world before her birth on May 27, 2006, in Swakopmund, Namibia. Her biblical name means “the desired one” or “the peaceful one.”

The Jolie-Pitt family was complete when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s twins, Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline, were born on July 12, 2008. The family of eight jet-setted around the world. The three brothers and three sisters saw dozens of countries before becoming teenagers.

From a young age, Shiloh preferred more androgynous and casual attire, often opting for clothing traditionally associated with boys. Angelina told Vanity Fair, via Today, that Shiloh dresses “like a little dude … She likes tracksuits; she likes [regular] suits.” Angie continued, “She likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”

As Shiloh grew up, Jolie wasn’t worried about her daughter’s gender or personal style. “Shiloh’s hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet,” the Mr. and Mrs. Smith star explained to Vanity Fair. “… Goofy and verbal, the early signs of a performer. I used to get dressed up in costumes and jump around.”

Although the kids most avoided the spotlight, Angelina Jolie often brings them to family-friendly movie premieres and award shows. Zahara and Shiloh accompanied her to Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards in 2015, where Angie won “Favorite Villain” for Maleficent.

In October 2022, Angelina filed a cross-complaint against her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. She revealed new details about what she described in court papers as abusive behavior by him on a private plane in 2016, which ultimately led to the end of their marriage. The suit alleged that “Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her,” according to the New York Times.
