The Book of Boba Fett is the latest Star Wars story to hit Disney+. And because it features characters like Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu, fans might want to know whether they need to watch the series before diving into The Mandalorian Season 3.

Should viewers watch ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ before ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3?

The Book of Boba Fett is centered on iconic Star Wars antihero Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison). But the series also features several characters from The Mandalorian, including Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris), and Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant).

But most significantly, the show picks up with Din, Grogu, and Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) story from the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. Episode 5 features an exclusive continuation of their specific storylines.

So fans should watch The Book of Boba Fett before The Mandalorian Season 3 to see what transpired after Luke took Grogu from Din to train him in the ways of the Jedi. And for those only interested in Din and Grogu’s story, the fifth episode, titled “Return of the Mandalorian,” is the best place to start.

Boba Fett could appear in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3

Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand appeared in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. So there’s a good chance they, along with other characters from The Book of Boba Fett, could appear in The Mandalorian Season 3.

In The Book of Boba Fett, Din reunites with the titular antihero. He helps him defeat the Pyke Syndicate as they attack his territory, Mos Espa. Boba and Din are clear allies whose paths will likely cross again. So it could be a good idea for viewers to get the complete picture of Boba’s origin story via The Book of Boba Fett before heading into The Mandalorian Season 3.

‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 doesn’t yet have a release date

With Din and Grogu’s continuing storyline in The Book of Boba Fett, and their adorable tease in the finale, fans can’t wait to see what happens next. Unfortunately, as of now, The Mandalorian Season 3 release date hasn’t been announced. But the speculation is it will debut sometime in late 2022.

There is also no word on a renewal for The Book of Boba Fett Season 2. However, there are several Star Wars projects in the works that might include overlaps of both Boba’s and Din’s stories.
