Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s Best of Reality TV in 2021: Winners
Showbiz Cheat Sheet is celebrating the best moments from reality TV with the first ever Best of Reality TV Awards. We’re talking the crème de la crème — from the most cringe-worthy dates to the most outstanding villain — in the world of reality TV this past year. After tallying up the votes from both our team and our readers, we are excited to reveal who came out on top. Here are the winners for our Best of Reality TV in 2021.
Cringe-worthy reality TV show dating moment
Winner: Matt James — The Bachelor
The winner of the most cringe-worthy reality TV show dating moment in 2021 is Matt James from The Bachelor kissing with his eyes wide open. Which shouldn’t be a huge surprise, since Bachelor Nation couldn’t stop talking about this awkward kissing technique throughout the entire season.
Matt easily beat out the other nominees. Which included Greg Grippo and Katie Thurston’s messy breakup during the Hometowns of The Bachelorette. As well as Jasmine Jones and the removal of her “butt cutlets” when Vinny Guadagnino eliminated her from MTV’s Double Shot at Love.
Biggest reality show blow-up
Winner: Lexi Wilson — Below Deck Mediterranean
One of the best parts of reality television is the explosive arguments — and fans saw plenty of them in 2021. Our nominees included the confrontation between Candace Rice and Gus Smyrnios on Floribama Shore after he used her hairdryer without asking. Gus felt so ganged up on during the confrontation that he ran away from production for a few days.
There was also “Queen” Victoria Larson and her exit from The Bachelor after Matt James called her out for the toxicity she brought to the house.
But, the winner of the Biggest Reality Show Blow-Up Award this year goes to Below Deck Mediterranean and second stew Lexi Wilson. After hurling insults at just about every other person in the crew, Lexi started one of the most explosive fights in reality TV.
Reality TV MVP
Winner: Kenya Moore — Real Housewives of Atlanta
The race for Reality TV MVP in 2021 was a close one. The list of nominees included Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, who has gone through quite the evolution. In addition to welcoming his first child with wife Lauren, Mike also celebrated six years of sobriety and the end of his probation.
The second nominee was Rodney Mathews from Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette. He made our Reality TV MVP contender list because he quickly became a fan favorite. The self-described underdog became popular because of his compassion, and his willingness to open up to Michelle.
However, the winner of Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s award for Reality TV MVP is Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore. She expanded her reality TV horizons in 2021 as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars, where she made it to week seven. The former beauty queen also appeared on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.
Best reality TV villain
Winner: Brendan Morais — The Bachelorette
Every reality TV fan loves a good villain. And coming out on top in 2021 was Brendan Morais from Clare Crawley/Tayshia Adams’ season of The Bachelorette. He then went full villain during Bachelor in Paradise. He romanced Natasha Parker on the beach while “rose-chasing” for Pieper James — and this earned him the top villain prize.
Brendan beat out bitcoin investor Garrett Morosky from FBoy Island, who turned down a relationship with Sarah Emig and took all the money. The Bachelor in Paradise villain also beat out Chris Williams from season 12 of Married at First Sight.
After having sex with his wife Paige Banks on their wedding night, Chris told her the next day that he didn’t find her attractive. But that was nothing compared to his revelation that he had gotten his ex-fiancee pregnant right before coming on the show.
Most shocking reality TV moment
Winner: Jen Shah — Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
The final category in Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s Best of Reality TV Awards 2021 is the Most Shocking Reality TV Moment of the year. This category also included Brendan and Pieper from Bachelor in Paradise. Thanks to their conversation about gaining more Instagram followers with BiP cameras nearby.
We were also shocked when Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim from Netflix’s Selling Sunset made their relationship public ahead of season 5.
But the reality TV star who gave us this past year’s most shocking moment was Jen Shah. At the beginning of season 2 of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Bravo cameras were on hand when officers arrested Jen on fraud charges. She is now facing up to 30 years in prison. She continues to maintain her innocence, while her co-conspirators have started to cut deals.
Congratulations to all of the winners in Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s first-ever Best of Reality TV Awards. See you again next year!
