Simone Biles’ Fiancé, Jonathan Owens, Revealed the Couple’s Bond Over Their Bulldogs: ‘They’ve Become Best Friends’
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens recently celebrated a huge milestone in their relationship. The couple got engaged after almost two years of dating.
However, Biles and Owens are not the only members of their families getting along. Owens once revealed that their bulldogs are now “best friends.”
How did Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens first meet?
Biles and Owens met in March 2020, just as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was unraveling around the world. The couple became acquainted through the dating app Raya.
“I didn’t know who she was,” Owens told Texas Monthly in June 2021. “I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.”
He added, “We ended up hanging out right before the pandemic. It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn’t do anything. So we used it to get to know each other—really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I’m so thankful.”
Biles and Owens went public with their romance in August 2020. Then, on February 15, 2022, the pair announced their engagement on social media with pictures of Owens proposing to Biles.
“THE EASIEST YES,” Biles wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ @jowens_3.”
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens’ dogs have ‘become best friends’
Biles and Owens have been joining their lives together, which includes getting their pets acquainted with one another. Both of them are dog parents. Biles has two French bulldogs named Lilo and Rambo, while Owens has a bulldog named Zeus.
Owens shared with Texas Monthly that the couple’s pets have been getting along with each other. He explained, “I’ll show up at her house, and her dogs will peek around her looking for my dog. They’ve become best friends.”

Both Biles and Owens are professional athletes, so it is not surprising that the pair has bonded over sports.
Biles shared with People in August 2021 that she enjoys seeing Owens play football. She gushed, “I love watching him play because he has such a passion. He works so hard so for him to be able to showcase that on the field is really exciting.”
Meanwhile, Owens told Texas Monthly that both of them understand what it means to compete at high levels, and this is something they bond over as well.
“We talk all the time about that, just the pressure she goes through,” he said. “I try to be her motivating factor whenever I sense that she’s kind of maybe getting down on herself … It’s a great feeling when the person you’re in a relationship with understands what you’re going through.”
Owens also believes their relationship is “a match made in heaven,” and it seems many fans could not agree more.
