‘Sister Wives’: Christine Brown Raised $50K for Ysabel’s Surgery on Her Own (With the Help of Fans)
During Season 16 of Sister Wives, Christine Brown is thrilled to give her daughter, Ysabel Brown, the major back surgery that she needed for many years due to her scoliosis. However, it appears that Christine was the one to raise the $50,000 for Ysabel’s surgery on her own.
Ysabel needed major back surgery for scoliosis
On Sister Wives Season 16, Christine’s daughter, Ysabel, underwent major back surgery for her scoliosis. The specialized surgery required Christine and Ysabel to travel to the doctor in New Jersey.
The procedure involved attaching fibers to the spine to straighten it. The procedure also helped her grow a few inches in height.
When asked what she was looking forward to most post-surgery, Ysabel said, “Being more pain-free, driving without pain, waking up without pain, going to bed, being able to breathe without pain.”
Christine explained that Ysabel had been in pain for years because of her scoliosis. She says, “There’s nothing I can do to help Ysabel except to get her this surgery.”
Christine Brown had to raise $50K for the proceedure
According to an article by The Sun, Christine posted a video on her private Facebook page, thanking her fans for purchasing her LuLaRoe clothing. The support from her fans helped her afford the cost of the downpayment for the surgery.
Christine said in the clip, “What you guys are doing by helping me so much with my purchases is you are helping me get something done.”
The Sister Wives star revealed, “One of my daughters needs a surgery. I need $50,000 for a down payment for the surgery. You guys are helping me make it happen. Thank you. $50,000 for a down was so daunting, so I decided to just work hard.”
She continued: “We’re halfway there! I can’t thank you enough for all your purchases and you helping my family.” Christine concluded, “I don’t know how we would be able to get the surgery she needs without LuLaRoe. I really appreciate it a lot, thank you!”
Kody Brown wasn’t there for the surgery
In this season of Sister Wives, Kody disappointed Christine, Ysabel, and fans when he decided he wouldn’t be going to New Jersey for the surgery. Despite Ysabel expressing how much she needed him there, he felt it was too big of a risk. Also, he expressed that he didn’t want to spend time away from the younger children, Solomon and Ariella, because they still needed him.
So, instead of traveling and quarantine, Kody decided to stay home with Robyn and their kids. This was devastating for Ysabel. Sister Wives fans were upset with Kody for not going to his daughter’s surgery.
For many years, Sister Wives fans have watched Ysabel struggle with her scoliosis, so it was amazing to see her standing straighter post-surgery. Thanks to Christine, LuLaRoe, and all of the support of the Sister Wives fans, Ysabel was able to have her surgery.
