In the latest installment of TLC’s Sister Wives, Christine and Meri Brown’s icy relationship melts during an emotional reunion. Once married to Kody Brown, the women appear to make some amends during a moment that was a long time coming.

Meri and Christine Brown are free of the past and Kody Brown

For three decades, Meri and Christine Brown were Kody Brown’s wives. They also shared a history of difficulties in their relationship.

However, during a surprising reunion, Christine and Meri’s icy relationship appeared to thaw. The women spoke briefly of the past and shared some emotional words of support for each other.

Meri attended Gwendlyn Brown’s bridal shower to celebrate her July 2023 wedding to Beatriz Queiroz. The occasion marked the first time Christine, Meri, Kody, and Robyn Brown had been in the same room since he divorced three of his wives. Janelle Brown was not in attendance at the event.

Meri approached Christine to introduce herself to David Woolley, Christine’s boyfriend. The two women briefly spoke before Christine said she knew of Meri and Kody’s split.

Christine then hugged Meri, causing her to tear up. “I love you,” they said to each other.

From there, Christine said, “It’s better on the other side, isn’t it?” Meri replied, “Eh, I don’t know.”

“It will be,” Christine added. “Infinitely better. It is. It is, I promise. So much better.”

They hugged again and Meri said, “This is good.” “Yeah, good. I’m glad you came,” Christine responded.

‘Sister Wives’ viewers were happy to see the women put aside their differences

In an attempt to maintain a relationship with Kody and Robyn Brown, Meri Brown did not appear to support Christine Brown leaving their polygamist family in November 2021. The women had a tense relationship for years prior, as they competed for Kody Brown’s attention.

However, now free of Kody’s influence, Meri and Christine come together in a sweet moment of reconciliation. They put the past behind them to move forward.

Sister Wives viewers were happy to see the women appear to move forward. They shared their thoughts in a Reddit episode recap.

“Meri and Christine’s hugging it out and saying they love each other was sweet. They both went through hell together with Kody for decades so I think they will always have that bond together and there is real love underneath all the hurt feelings,” wrote one fan.

“I’m glad Christine and Meri are hugging and being kinder to each other,” said a second viewer. A third noted, “They were pitted against each other for decades. Christine is legitimately happy for Meri that she left Kody and wants her to know it gets better without him.”

It appears that Christine and Meri have not reignited their friendship. The twosome and Janelle Brown were Kody Brown’s original three wives. Robyn Brown married into their polygamist family in 2011.

Although fans only see whatever footage TLC chooses to edit into the series, Meri and Christine have created separate lives in Utah. This was evident when Christine did not invite Meri to her wedding to David Woolley several months after their reunion.

However, Meri’s child, Leon, and their partner Audrey, were in attendance at the event. All of Christine’s children, except for Gwendlyn, were in attendance. So was Janelle Brown and all of her children.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
