Historically, TLC releases news about Sister Wives‘ latest season sometime in mid- to late summer. However thus far, the network hasn’t revealed any new details about Season 19. Could it be because production is hurriedly retooling filmed scenes to redeem Robyn Brown?

Can Robyn Brown truly be redeemed?

Along with Kody Brown, Robyn Brown has been painted as a villain of the Sister Wives family. Over 18 seasons, Robyn has been featured as having ulterior motives beyond being part of the polygamist Brown family.

From Season 1, Robyn wasn’t shy about voicing her opinions about why her family’s needs needed to be met. She vocalized her concerns for her children, whom she believed needed to be accepted in a family already bursting at the seams with 13 offspring.

Subsequently, as Kody continued to lean into his relationship with Robyn, he turned his back on his other wives. As the show evolved, viewers watched Robyn defend her position in the family, appear victimized by the other wives, and separate Kody from his children.

Therefore, after years of Kody and Robyn clinging to one another to the detriment of Meri, Janelle, and Christine’s relationships, is there even a slim chance for Robyn’s redemption? Will the TLC series retool their filmed scenes to make Robyn and Kody seem less self-serving in light of Garrison Brown’s death?

Robyn and Kody have become the bread-and-butter villains of Sister Wives. However, it remains unclear whether this family tragedy will make the couple tone down their defiance toward other Brown family members.

The chance for Robyn’s changing her ways seems slim, as she and Kody don’t believe they have done anything wrong. In agreement with this viewpoint are viewers who believe a redemption arc for Robyn is near to impossible.

‘Sister Wives’ fans talk about Robyn Brown’s redemption arc, can it happen?

In a Reddit post, Sister Wives fans discussed the possibility of a redemption arc for Robyn Brown during Season 19 of the TLC series. While some believe it is possible to paint her in a different light moving forward, others feel that the damage done between Kody and Robyn is too late for the show’s viewers.

“That’s what my grandma would call ‘putting lipstick on a pig.’ I don’t think there is much you can do to make her more likable,” wrote one viewer.

A second fan wrote, “She would have to take accountability for what she did to those women and those kids. All of the kids, not just the OG 13, her kids, too.”

“She would have so many apologies to make, and they would have to be sincere. I’m not sure she could ever redeem herself,” noted a third viewer.

A fourth Sister Wives fan deduced, “I think it’s too late to redeem her. The biggest problem with Robyn is that she convinces herself she is not doing anything wrong. That it is not her fault Kody wasn’t happy in his other relationships.”

‘Sister Wives’ is no longer about polygamy, so what does the show focus on?

Sister Wives was introduced to viewers as a show focusing on a polygamist family. One man, four wives, many shared children, and a mission to normalize polygamy.

However, in the 18 seasons since the series first debuted, Sister Wives has shifted toward the demise of the family and a tragedy no parent should endure. Kody and Janelle’s son, Garrison, took his own life in early 2024, further fracturing the already splintered clan.

Therefore, with four wives living in separate states, a former polygamist husband who is now a monogamist, and a looming tragedy that has yet to be addressed on the show, where does Sister Wives go from here? Could TLC delay or even alter the already filmed scenes to deal with Garrison’s death sensitively?

Or rather, will the show continue to run the gamut of storylines leading up to Garrison’s passing? And perhaps not even discuss the incident until next season? Until the series releases its newest teaser trailer, all fans can do is speculate what’s next.

Sister Wives is currently on hiatus. The series airs on TLC.
