‘Sister Wives’ Drama: Kody Brown’s Blatant Lies Pale Compared to Robyn’s Manipulations
As one of the most boring seasons of Sister Wives rolls on, Kody Brown’s lies continue. However, his deceptions pale compared to Robyn Brown’s manipulative tactics, and fans aren’t buying it. In the series’ latest installment, “Faith Can Move Mountains,” the couple’s hypocrisy is on full display as they shift painful moments in the Brown family history to suit their needs.
Kody Brown made his divorce from Meri Brown romantic instead of validating her heartbreak
In 2014, Meri Brown’s marriage to Kody Brown collapsed after 24 years. Sister Wives viewers were spoon-fed information that they divorced so Kody could adopt Robyn Brown’s kids. While that proved to be right, circumstances surrounding their split were neatly covered up.
By 2014, Meri and Kody were estranged. Kody had decided to spend most of his time with Robyn and their children, abandoning his other wives and family members.
However, Meri admitted ending her legal marriage was heartbreaking. She believed her spiritual relationship with Kody would remain intact in the same way as his marriages to Christine and Janelle Brown.
In flashbacks, it was clear Meri was heartbroken while signing their divorce papers. However, it was Kody’s statement that drew ire from viewers as he recalled that heartbreaking day.
He said in a confessional, “Meri and I, after that divorce, left Robyn and went to dinner together. I gave her a special ring and we probably went home and made love.”
But Meri wasn’t having his lies and called him out. “I think it’s kind of disgusting that he would bring up a potentially intimate moment with somebody that he’s divorced from. I can guaran-damn-tee you that he would never talk about those moments in this setting with his wife. Kody and I were not in the kind of relationship at that time that we would be doing those kinds of things anyway.”
Robyn Brown claims she wasn’t behind Kody’s divorce from Meri: Christine says otherwise
During the newest Sister Wives episode, Robyn Brown claimed she wasn’t behind Kody Brown’s divorce from Meri Brown. She tried to set the longstanding rumor straight but was debunked by Christine Brown.
Christine claimed that right after Kody spiritually married Robyn, “She started talking to us about these other families where the first wife divorced the husband so he could marry the second wife legally and legally adopt the kids. And I remember thinking, yeah, that’s a plant.” She continued that Robyn “mentioned that several times through the years like she was putting that in there because she would have loved that to happen.”
Robyn said of her reported bad behavior, “The idea that I, like, planted an idea in Meri’s head is an absolute lie. I never said it.”
She continued, “I don’t even know anyone who divorced their first wife so that the second wife could adopt kids. I’ve never even heard of that before. Meri told me when she made the offer that when we were getting to know each other, she had had the idea in her head to offer to give me the legal marriage so that Kody could adopt my kids.”
Robyn concluded, “I was grateful that I wasn’t going to be legally married to Kody because I’d gone through so much trauma with my legal divorce in my last marriage. I was very happy and content with my spiritual marriage. I didn’t need anything else.”
Fans weigh in on being spoon-fed 19 seasons of lies on ‘Sister Wives’
In a Reddit post, fans weighed in on being spoon-fed lies throughout 19 seasons of Sister Wives. The reality of the Brown family was drastically different than was what depicted on TLC.
“I think Kody enjoys lying to us, the viewers. None of his wives believe his gaslighting bs anymore, so he’s trying it on us,” wrote one Redditor.
A second penned, “Love how everything you’d suspect from day one ended up being true. They tried for a decade to be like “it’s not like that!” and it was exactly like that.”
“It’s clear that Robyn and Kody are going to lie until the end of time,” claimed a third viewer. A fourth concluded, “This is so messy (finally).”
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
