It was clear to viewers of Sister Wives that Robyn Brown was always Kody Brown’s number one. This was evident as far back as season 1, when Kody would spend weekends at Robyn’s house, leaving his other wives and children behind. So, why was Kody so surprised when his wives began feeling neglected?

Robyn Brown stole Kody’s heart in a way his other wives did not

Robyn and Kody Brown’s relationship was portrayed as more romantic than his relationships with Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown. TLC’s cameras showed their intense romance, contrasting it with the platitudes he exchanged with his three other wives.

For example, he briefly kissed or hugged Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown. But Robyn got long, lingering looks and hugs and kisses before marriage. This should have set off red flags for his wives.

However, it was not revealed until much later how Kody’s affection toward Robyn at the beginning of her relationship with the Brown family affected his three other wives. Sadly, Kody wasn’t mature enough to tell his other wives that he had met the true love of his life and kept them strung along for years.

From the beginning of Sister Wives’ first season, Christine Brown knew she wouldn’t always be number one in Kody Brown’s heart. She saw his affection toward Robyn Brown and felt a distance in her marriage.

She said in a confessional that Kody courting Robyn had taken a toll on their family. Christine shared, “She lives far. She lives like five hours away. So I always told him, there was a couple of times, I’m like, ‘You really can’t go. You can’t leave me. And you can’t leave your family. Here you are replacing your family with Robyn and her kids.’”

Kody and Robyn denied this accusation. She felt she and Kody needed time to build their relationship and trust with her children from her first marriage.

However, many viewers saw Robyn as a homewrecker, particularly when she said she wanted a sister-wife experience but kept Kody at her home as much as possible. Eventually, he spent less and less time with Meri, Janelle, Christine, and his children and more time with Robyn and their family.

Robyn and Kody became their own nuclear family. Although he professed he still wanted to live a plural lifestyle, it was evident that he had changed his mind.

Sister Wives fans have some deep thoughts on Robyn Brown being Kody’s number one from the beginning of the series. They never once believed she would have seamlessly fit into the family by the way Kody behaved around her, and they said so in a Reddit thread.

“Robyn continued to call Kody back from leaving to go to Truley’s birth at the hospital to offer him a snack to take or something. She showed her real face during the very first season. B****, you know hospitals have cafeterias or, at minimum, a vending machine, right? Or were you confused?” wrote one Redditor.

A second fan penned, “Christine voice legit concerns. Pointing out the honeymoon, money, and time spent, she was called hormonal, mean, unkind, and all manner of things. And not just by Kody. Just imagine being postpartum, completely overwhelmed, and being so heavily gaslighted for being the only one speaking out.”

A third viewer surmised, “I think the OG3 always knew. And the older OG13 kids figured it out pretty damn fast.”

Currently, Kody and Robyn Brown have a monogamous marriage. Subsequently, he is no longer wed to Meri, Janelle, or Christine Brown.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
