Sister Wives star Kody Brown has historically talked out both sides of his mouth throughout filming for the TLC series. The reality star is well-known for not backing up his statements with actions. However, one moment was indeed his most hypocritical in 18 seasons of the reality TV show.

This was Kody Brown’s most hypocritical behavior in the series’ 18 seasons

In 18 seasons of Sister Wives, Kody Brown historically behaved in a manner that left a lot to be desired. His actions spoke louder than words in his relationships with Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown. However, during one moment in season 17, his hypocritical behavior emerged most prominently.

That season, Christine and Kody discussed co-parenting their daughter Truely. Christine planned to move to Utah with her youngest daughter and out of Flagstaff, Arizona.

Kody objected to Christine’s theory that by leaving Arizona while Truely and Kody had a good relationship, she was preserving it. Kody said, “For Christine to think that she’s saving my relationship with Truely by taking her away from me and just ‘preserving’ it—that’s such B.S. rationalization.”

Previously, Kody didn’t appear to object when Robyn Brown, his legal wife, moved her children far away from their biological father, David Jessop, who lives in Montana, to Utah, Las Vegas, and Flagstaff. Subsequently, Kody adopted Jessop’s children, and it is unclear just how often, if at all, they visit with him.

In fact, there was only one episode in which Robyn’s kids eagerly anticipated a trip to visit their father. This occurred right after their adoption in 2015. As Robyn allows little filming in her home and even less of her kids, it is unclear whether their shared three children have retained a relationship with Jessop.

This hypocritical behavior of the Brown family patriarch stood out. It became clear that what was good for one wife, Robyn, wasn’t good for the other, Christine.

Kody Brown favored Robyn Brown’s kids

When Robyn Brown first married Kody Brown, everyone attempted to make her children feel welcome within their supersized family. Still, Robyn always appeared a bit standoffish with her kids from the start, despite her current claims they were always treated as outsiders.

As the years progressed, Kody spent excessive time at Robyn’s house, neglecting his other wives and children. Truely, who was born just before Kody’s marriage to Robyn began, was lost in the crosshairs of their union.

This neglect was heartbreakingly obvious when, during an earlier season, Kody celebrated his daughter Ariella during her birthday party. He called her “sweetie,” leading Truely to say, “I used to be your sweetie.”

Therefore, Kody admitted he was put off when Truely acted calmly about his and Christine’s breakup. Truely subsequently revealed she was upset Christine told everyone else but her about their move. Since she was directly affected, Truely believed she should have been told first.

During Sister Wives Season 17, Kody Brown told Christine Brown that he wanted to spend more time with Truely. He wanted her to regularly visit his home with Robyn Brown. But, it was confusing when the cameras documented a visit, and Kody acted as if he didn’t have room for his daughter in his 4,400 sq. ft. abode.

It is unclear how much time Truely spends with Kody and how often he visits her in Utah. The Brown family participates in rolling filming, which means the cameras are regularly following the clan around. However, TLC doesn’t capture everything going on in their lives, 24 hours a day.

If photos on Christine’s social media indicate anything, Truely, now a teenager, appears to have settled in just fine in Utah. She lives there in a home with Christine, her husband, David Wooley and near extended family members.

Sister Wives is currently on hiatus. The series airs on TLC.
