‘Sister Wives’: Kody Feels ‘Relief’ From the ‘Burden and the Woe of a Loveless Marriage’ to Christine
On the Jan. 23 episode of Sister Wives, Kody Brown reveals how he feels about his separation from his third wife, Christine Brown. He admits he feels “relief” from the “burden and the woe of a loveless marriage.”
Kody wants a platonic marriage with Christine
During the episode, Christine holds back tears as she recounts her conversation with Kody. She recalls she and Kody were putting a door in for her bedroom. According to Christine, he was worried about the cat getting in her room.
Christine asked him, “‘I need to know, is the door just about the cat and it’s not about us having an intimate side of our marriage?'” She says, “He goes, ‘I’m not really interested in that anymore.'”
Christine reveals that Kody said, “‘I’m really not interested in having an intimate marriage anymore. I don’t like your behavior. We will see if you can be a good sister wife.'”
The Sister Wives star explained to Kody that not having an intimate marriage isn’t what she wants. She said, “That’s not enough for me. I can’t not have an intimate marriage.”
Kody feels ‘relief’ from the ‘burden and the woe of a loveless marriage’
Christine tells Kody that since their marriage is platonic, he isn’t allowed into her bedroom anymore. Kody says, “I got to admit, this isn’t totally unexpected because honestly, we’ve had serious troubles in our marriage for 12 years.”
Later on, Kody finds out just how serious Christine is. She moved all of his belongings from her bedroom to boxes in the garage.
He documents his feelings on his camera, saying, “I don’t know why, but I’m ambivalent. I almost don’t care.” He continues, “The first thought I have is ‘This is my house. This is my stuff. We never discussed this.’ The second thought I have is relief. Some kind of relief from the burden and the woe of a loveless marriage.”
Kody tells the cameras, “And the fear of the culpability of my behavior and my actions and the things I’ve done wrong in this, that have led to this point.”
Christine is ‘heartbroken’ over the end of her marriage
The Sister Wives star reflects on the end of her marriage. She says, “I don’t know what to do. I’m heartbroken. My heart is shattered, to be honest with you.”
Christine admits, “So I just thought maybe it would get better. But it’s over. The intimate part of our marriage is over. And to be honest, I’m not OK with that. I’m not OK with staying in a marriage where there’s no intimacy.”
The Jan 30. episode of Sister Wives will be a “One on One” reunion tell-all, where Kody and Christine will have more time to talk about their divorce. Sister Wives airs Sundays on TLC and discovery+.
