‘Sister Wives’: Meri Brown Announces the Death of Her Mother, Bonnie Ahlstrom, via Instagram
The Sister Wives community is mourning along with Meri Brown. Meri, Kody Brown’s first wife, took to Instagram on March 27 to announce the death of her mother, Bonnie Ahlstrom. Bonnie died on March 26. The moving post spoke highly of Bonnie and all she shared with the world. It also gave fans a glimpse into Meri’s family life away from the Browns.
How did Bonnie Ahlstrom die?
Bonnie died on March 26 at the age of 76. Just two weeks before, Meri had posted a birthday message to her mother, speaking of her kindness and generosity. Meri didn’t share details of the death. Her Instagram post did note that Bonnie’s passing was sudden and unexpected, though.
Meri did not reveal if she was in Utah when Bonnie’s passing or if Mariah Brown and Audrey Kriss, Meri’s daughter and her fiancée, were at the inn on March 26. Mariah and Audrey had been helping run the business amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Meri Brown’s father, Bill Barber, died in 2007.
Bonnie Ahlstrom spent the final years of her life managing Lizzie Heritage Inn
In the last years of her life, Bonnie found a career as an innkeeper. Meri purchased and renovated a home in Parowan, Utah, and repurposed it as a bed and breakfast. Lizzie Heritage Inn welcomed travelers from across the country, with Bonnie serving as hostess.
Lizzie Heritage Inn has received rave reviews since it first opened its doors, and many of those reviews speak specifically of Bonnie and her dedication to making travelers feel welcome. The most recent review, posted on March 20, noted that Bonnie was welcoming and fun to talk to. An October 2020 review echoes much the same. The fate of the inn remains unknown at this time.
Janelle Brown also lost her mother recently
Bonnie’s passing isn’t the only recent death that the Brown family has dealt with. In December 2020, Janelle Brown, Kody Brown’s second wife, announced the death of her mother, Sheryl Brown. Janelle was by her mother’s side at her home in Wyoming when she died on December 7 after a short illness. Sheryl turned 76 on the same day that she died.
Sheryl Lee Brown was married to Kody’s father, Winn Brown, until his death in 2013 at 78-years-old. The couple married shortly before Janelle joined Kody’s family in 1993. Sheryl joined the family as Winn’s third wife. Janelle did not share the nature of Sheryl’s illness.
