‘Sister Wives’: Meri Brown Flips the Script on Robyn Brown With a Challenging Question
Tensions between the Brown family members seem higher than ever on the new season of TLC’s Sister Wives. Kody Brown’s desire to move into one home in Flagstaff with his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown, sparked a series of awkward family conversations that ended in the sister wives ultimately rejecting his idea.
Kody and his first wife Meri have struggled with their marriage for years, and it looks like that tension has bled over into Meri’s relationships with her sister wives as well.
On the Feb. 23 episode of Sister Wives, “Doubting Polygamy,” Meri offered to host family gatherings at her home after Kody’s fourth wife Robyn lost her rental home. The silence from Kody and the other sister wives made it obvious to many fans that Meri was still the odd one out in the family.
During the same episode, Meri seemed to challenge Robyn, who is often speculated to be Kody’s favorite wife, with a question that put her on the spot.
Robyn said she was ‘disappointed’ that the Brown adults wouldn’t be moving in together
While Kody’s second wife Janelle was completely in favor of moving in with her sister wives again, Kody’s other wives weren’t so sure. His third wife, Christine, was the most adamantly opposed to the notion.
Meri didn’t give her opinion and said she would go with others’ preferences. Robyn said she wasn’t sure of her preference either way, since, having joined the family later on in life, she never lived in the same house with her sister wives.
“It was actually super hard to tell Kody that I didn’t want to live in one house, that I just wanted to live in four separate houses,” Christine said in a sit-down interview with her sister wives, “because I knew I’d be squashing his dreams a little bit.”
The Sister Wives star asked Janelle, Robyn, and Meri to weigh in on Kody’s dream of sharing a home. “I’ll tell you, I don’t even know for sure 100% that the whole one house thing is done,” she ventured. “How do you guys feel?”
Robyn, who has sometimes been accused by fans of taking Kody’s side during major family decisions or conflicts, said she had mixed feelings about the family’s choice to build four separate homes in Arizona. “I felt a little disappointed when we decided not to, but then at the same time, I thought, maybe it’s better,” she said, adding, “Maybe it’s the best choice.”
Meri issued Robyn a challenging question
That’s when Meri seemed to challenge Robyn with a difficult question.
“Let’s put it this way,” she began.
“What’s that?” Robyn asked, already looking nervous.
“Can I move in with you?” Meri asked Robyn pointedly.
“Well, if you need to, sure, yeah,” Kody’s fourth wife answered.
But Meri wasn’t satisfied. “Yeah, but would you want me to move in with you?” the Sister Wives star pressed on. The other wives started laughing as Robyn considered the question, looking more and more apprehensive.
Kody’s fourth wife didn’t seem to know how to respond
After a long silence, Robyn finally answered noncommittally, “Wow, Meri. What? What do you mean? Do you want me to move in with you?”
“I know how it is to live with everybody. You don’t,” Meri shot back laughingly.
“I think it would be very interesting,” Robyn finally told her fellow Sister Wives star. “I think it would be kind of a fun thing to try.”
“‘Interesting’ is a good word,” Meri joked, seeming to call Robyn out on her hesitation.
“Interesting is a good word in my head!” Robyn insisted.
“It’s fun if you have enough space,” Janelle finally said, seeming to try to break the tension between Meri and Robyn.
Tensions between Meri, Robyn, Christine, and Kody will come to a head on the next episode of Sister Wives. According to Soap Dirt, an argument over where Meri will live turns into one of the biggest fights the Brown family has ever had.
