Sister Wives star Robyn Brown once participated in an online Q&A where she defended two topics that have baffled fans for years; her “fake tears” and kissing Kody Brown before marriage. This fan exchange took place several years before Robyn left the social media platform for good in 2017.

Robyn Brown baffled ‘Sister Wives’ fans on social media

In the early days of TLC’s Sister Wives, the series stars regularly interacted with fans on X. As each episode aired, Robyn, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Kody Brown engaged with the public.

In the Facebook group Sister Wives Fans, a fan shared screenshots of Robyn’s responses to fan questions in March 2015. The questions were not shared.

Robyn’s answers appear to directly contrast statements she makes today on Sister Wives. Today, she plays coy about her life with Kody Brown or, doesn’t directly answer questions, feigning forgetfulness.

She addressed the hot-button topic of kissing Kody ahead of marriage. Robyn wrote, “Kody and I had a normal courtship for a plural family. We were chaste. We didn’t kiss until engaged.”

Robyn added, “I was engaged to Kody when he kissed me. Christine TOLD HIM to kiss the next woman when they got engaged.” However, this statement contradicts Robyn and Kody spending weekends together at her apartment while they were courting, all caught on camera.

As for the “fake” tears that have led to her “Sobbin Robyn” nickname, Robyn didn’t shy away from that topic either. She wrote, “My tears are not scripted. They are absolutely real. That would take a lot of talent I think to cry on demand.”

She added, “I spend days filming and I cry once and for sure the editors will use it. Frankly, I am tired of seeing it on the show.”

Robyn addressed why her children don’t have a relationship with her ex-husband

Robyn Brown also discussed why her children Dayton, Aurora, and Breanna don’t have a relationship with their father, David Preston Jessop. She was confrontational with fans who questioned why her children appear to no longer communicate with their father.

In the screenshots, Robyn wrote that she was not making her children choose whether or not to see their father. She added she didn’t bash Preston to her children and subsequently, they didn’t watch the show.

Robyn also became defensive when viewers questioned her about the debt she brought to the Brown family when spiritually marrying Kody in 2011. She told fans they were “hung up” on the topic and responded, “When you have some real questions, come back.”

Kody Brown calls Robyn ‘shy’ now, but she seemed different early on

During Sister Wives season 19, Kody Brown tried to rebrand Robyn Brown from the outspoken woman she was in the show’s early days to “shy.” He stated, “I’m here with my shy and pretty wife, my one pretty wife. And she’s shy, but she’s not shy with me. I have a very special bond with her.”

For someone supposedly shy, Robyn has never had a problem taking center stage in confessionals. She often speaks at length and gets emotional, ensuring her point is heard.

Robyn has no problem speaking up when she feels wronged; whether it’s about financial issues, the nanny debacle, or relationships with the other wives. She has even made bold statements about her place in the family, something a shy person would likely avoid.

Robyn Brown may not be as aggressive as Meri, Janelle, or Christine Brown, but calling her shy is a stretch. Her actions show someone comfortable in the spotlight, assertive when necessary, and far from timid. Kody’s claim seems more like an excuse to paint her in a certain light rather than an accurate personality assessment.

Sister Wives is currently on hiatus. The show returns continues after its midseason finale in the spring and features a cast tell-all.
