Sister Wives star Robyn Brown is known by the nickname “Sobbin Robyn” for the many tears she has cried on camera throughout 19 seasons of the TLC series. Yet, even though she’s always dabbing at her eyes, Robyn rarely turns on the waterworks. When are her tears real?

Robyn Brown cries a lot, but never turns on the waterworks unless they can benefit her

Sister Wives star Robyn Brown uses tears to influence her family members. She’s done it since season one 1 and continued to cry her way through every good and bad moment in the series’ history.

But, Robyn only seems to cry real tears when they benefit her. Otherwise, it’s all about dabbing her eyes with her fingers but having dry eyes.

Robyn’s tears have been historically used to try and manipulate Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Kody Brown. They worked on Meri and Kody but were ineffective on Janelle and Christine, who saw through Robyn’s tactics.

The last time viewers saw actual tears coming out of Robyn’s eyes was during Meri and Kody’s picnic table breakup at the close of season 18. She was so overcome with emotion over the end of Meri and Kody’s marriage that she was overwrought.

She appeared to be most upset that her dream wouldn’t be realized (by her dramatic, “I wanted to sit on a porch with my sister wives” statement) more than the fact that Meri was leaving. Kody is affected by her tears, but after over a decade of Robyn’s histrionics, Meri finally turned her off.

‘Sister Wives’ Fans Slam ‘Sobbin Robyn’ Brown’s Tears in New TLC Clip

In a Reddit post, Sister Wives viewers continue to look for evidence of Robyn Brown’s tears. The commentators agreed that most of her waterworks were fake.

“She cries on every episode! It drives me nuts! Not one tear rolls down her face but she makes a face like she’s about to bawl like a baby. I scream at my TV every single time she does this mess!” exclaimed one viewer.

A second wrote, “I’ve never seen a tear fall down Robyn’s face. I didn’t know that looking up at the ceiling or blinking a lot stops you from crying.”

“She’s had a real tear here and there when she feels as though SHE’S been inconvenienced. Couldn’t care less about anyone else or their pain and troubles so long as she’s not having any hardship. And sometimes, that hardship is no one is recognizing her fake martyrdom (which Kody usually does recognize and applaud her for),” a third fan penned.

Finally a fourth stated, “I have watched all seasons and she has never shed a tear. When she dabs her eyes she’s checking to see if she managed to squeeze a tear out.”

How does the ‘Sister Wives’ star make herself ‘cry?’

One general fan theory is that Robyn Brown uses tears to get a point across when she has nothing constructive to say. She uses emotions as a way to get what she wants.

Therefore, by crying, she believes she can manipulate those around her to see things her way. It’s been something she’s done time and time again.

Historically, before she begins “tearing” up, Robyn looks up towards the ceiling. Some fans have called her out for looking up at production’s lights to tear up, dabbing at her eyes vigorously.

However, after each crying session, Robyn uses her fingers to dab at her eyes and then, looks at them. Is she looking to see if she produced real tears?

Robyn’s fake tears were called out by Kody’s daughter Gwendlyn. She spoke of Robyn crying during a video posted to her Patreon account.

Gwendlyn asked, “What is it zooming in on? Was it just me, or were there no tears? Oh god, that must suck. Crying, and no tears are coming out.”

Will Robyn Brown cry again during the newest episode of Sister Wives? Viewers will have to watch and see when the series airs Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
