In 2024, Snoop Dogg collaborated with Sting on the song “Another Part of Me” from his album Missionary. The rapper said he has long respected the singer and was thrilled to meet him. Snoop shared why he saw Sting as “cold-blooded” when he sent his portion of the song over.

Snoop Dogg spoke about what it was like to work with Sting

On the 2024 song “Another Part of Me,” Snoop samples and interpolates The Police’s “Message in a Bottle.” He decided to recruit Sting to appear on the song.

“Well, I’ve been a fan of Sting since I was a kid, so when we did the record, it was an interpolation of his song and we was thinking who could we get on it, and we said we might as well go after Sting,” Snoop told Complex in 2024. “And when we sent it to him, that motherf***er sent the record back how fast?”

Snoop was impressed by what Sting sent him.

“He sound harder than me on that. I’m like, damn Sting, you cold-blooded with this s***,” Snoop said. “To me, it shows the growth of who I am and where I’m at to have a duet with somebody like that.”

Sting also spoke highly of the song.

“Dre and Snoop sent me a version of [the Police’s 1979 hit] ‘Message in a Bottle,’ and I was very impressed by it. Frankly, it was great,” he told Billboard. “It’s a rebirth of the song, if you like. I played the guitar on it. I sang a verse, but in order to sing a verse that would match what they’d done, I had to raise my game, sing in a way that I don’t normally sing in a rhythmic way. It was challenging, but very, very satisfying. It’s a great version of the song.”

He shared how he felt when he met the singer

Snoop noted he was “so happy” to be able to work with Sting. He’d long admired the other artist and he lived up to his expectations.

“Like a child that’s infatuated with somebody as a singer, and you get a chance to meet them and they give you everything you expected, that’s what happens with me all the time,” Snoop said, per People. “I meet people I’ve always wanted to meet and they’re everything I wanted them to be.”
