Determined to maintain his grip on the business and his inner circle, he’s set to be a full-blown menacing force in season 5. But when should fans expect the TV show to return to FX? 2022 is around the corner, and filming is underway.

Damson Idris reveals ‘Snowfall’ Season 5 photos

Lead actor Damson Idris has been teasing what’s to come in Snowfall Season 5 with photos from set. His Instagram posts show him leaning against a school bus and in another shot, he’s flying an airplane. The year reads “1986” and Idris captioned the picture by saying, “See you soon.” Idris is also set to produce for the upcoming season as he takes Franklin Saint to dangerous new heights.

Additionally, actor Sergio Peris-Mencheta (who plays Oso) shared footage of the production team’s first table read in September and a message from the directors welcoming him back to set. Based on the snapshot, Leon, Avi, Teddy, and Franklin’s mom Cissy are set to appear. It’s officially on. However, Kevin Carroll — who played Alton — was noticeably absent.

Angela Lewis confirms filming has begun

Angela Lewis is gearing up to bring Aunt Louie’s fierceness to season 5. She too shared a photo from set on Instagram where she was wearing a mask. When fans in the comment section asked about filming, she confirmed that the cameras are rolling. Production began in early September.

Along with Lewis, fan-favorite Amin Joseph tweeted a photo of himself wearing Uncle Jerome’s Jheri curl headpiece. 2022 can’t come quickly enough for fans.

What fans may expect in ‘Snowfall’ Season 5

Season 4 left multiple cliffhangers. Uncle Jerome and Aunt Louie declared their independence, Leon tried to break free, and Teddy/Reed addressed loose ends, but the war on drugs is a looming threat to business. Fans can’t wait to see the fallout from Teddy vs. Alton and Franklin, and after seeing Franklin go ham on his crew and family, it’s expected he’ll get mean.

During an April 2021 interview with Gold Derby, Idris hinted that Franklin and Teddy may be on the outs over Alton. He also used the word “monster.”

“We don’t know if Reed is going to pull that trigger,” he said. “I think I know what Franklin’s going to do in season five, but whatever he’s going to do is going to be monstrous, and I think it’s going to be something that’s going to keep the audience on the edge of their seat because although Franklin understands this Fredo-esque betrayal that his father’s giving him, deep down he still loves him … It’s going to be tragic for Cissy, and I think Franklin is going to have to deal with that.”

A new character is also joining the drama, but it’s unclear whether she’s a friend, foe, or crusader like Irene Abe. Devyn Tyler plays Veronique, a smart, compassionate woman armed with a law degree. Snowfall Season 5 is due to return to FX in 2022, and based on season 4’s arrival, it may happen as soon as February.
