Some Fans Noticed Something Strange About the Kardashians’ Celebrity Friends
The Kardashian-Jenner family has been in the spotlight since 2007, ever since Keeping Up with the Kardashians first premiered on television. From TV commercials to business ventures, it seems as though they have done it all.
While fans have eagerly followed their exploits and supported their many product launches, the family has also been subject to a great deal of criticism.
Recently, some critics on Reddit discussed the strange effect that the Kardashians have on their circle of friends — and whether or not any of their friends use them for “clout” in the industry.
The Kardashian family’s celebrity friends
It seems as though there is no one in pop culture more famous than the Kardashian family. Still, they are good friends with several huge celebrities, including Beyonce and her husband, Jay-Z, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, and Will Smith.
The family also hangs out a lot with socialites and people who are “famous for being famous” — people such as Larsa Pippen, Paris Hilton, and Andy Cohen.
Still, it is interesting to note that rarely do major celebrities post about spending time with members of the Kardashian family.
In fact, only one or two of their famous friends ever really post about them, with Chrissy Teigen, the unfiltered queen of social media, being at the forefront — and it could be argued that Teigen likes posting about anything and everything, and isn’t terribly concerned with appearances.
Most other major celebs, including Beyonce and John Legend, tend to avoid referencing the Kardashians.
Do the Kardashians’ celebrity friends use them?
Some critics on Reddit discussed how it seems as though many “older” celebrities, i.e., people who are established in the business, do not really seem to like the Kardashians.
Several posters expressed the idea that many of these famous celebrities might talk about the family behind their backs after they leave their parties or events. It is also possible that these celebrities really don’t like the Kardashians at all but still attend the family’s events for networking purposes.
Other critics on Reddit stated that some “younger” celebrities, or people who are still working towards becoming fully established, seem to hover around the Kardashians because of the possible career boost.
A few of these celebs could include Kendall Jenner’s model squad, like Gigi Hadid or Jordyn Woods, Kylie Jenner’s ex-best friend.
Some of the Kardashian family friends have become famous by association
It is certainly true that people who are close to the Kardashian-Jenner family can experience fame by proxy. A few people who are from humble backgrounds have risen to fame almost solely due to their association with the famous family.
Jonathan Cheban, Kim Kardashian’s longtime best friend, is a prime example. Cheban and Kardashian met long before she achieved reality-TV fame and have stayed close over the years. Cheban is reportedly the only one in Kardashian’s inner circle who can get away with telling Kardashian when she is wrong about something.
These days, Cheban has achieved a huge following on social media and is considered to be a minor celebrity. He markets himself as a food expert and makes a living out of visiting restaurants all around the world.
Malika Haqq, Khloe Kardashian’s best friend, has also gotten a career boost from being friends with the Kardashians. From being a struggling actress to a popular model and social media personality, Haqq has even collaborated with Kardashian on a makeup line.
There’s no doubt that the Kardashians have the power to make people famous. While some have definitely taken advantage of this, others prefer to keep their distance.
