‘Sons of Anarchy’ Star Charlie Hunnam Never Travels Without This
When Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam travels around the world for his various movie and television projects, there is one thing he never leaves home without. Turns out the actor is very particular about his food choices when he travels and always packs his own meals whenever he has to fly. So what is the Sons of Anarchy star’s favorite travel food?
Charlie Hunnam dishes on his traveling preferences
Hunnam opened up about his travels while filming Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. The actor, who rose to fame playing Jax Teller in Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy, revealed that he dislikes plane food so much that he packs his own meals.
And his favorite food to take on a flight is an egg salad sandwich. Who would have guessed that?
“Hate it. I always pack my own food. I’m an enormous fan of an egg salad sandwich on the road. If I’m taking a road trip, I’ll get up at 3 o’clock in the morning if I have to, to make myself an egg salad sandwich before I go,” Hunnam shared.
According to Travel and Leisure, Charlie Hunnam added that he also brings along a bunch of fruit, water, and an extra salad or two. Always thinking about what he puts in his body, Hunnam makes sure his food is as healthy as possible – which is difficult to do when traveling.
For Hunnam, keeping things clean and healthy makes it easier to deal with things like jet lag. It also, of course, helps him maintain his weight on long trips, something that is important in his line of work.
What else does Hunnam bring when he travels?
Aside from food options, there are several items Hunnam always packs for the road. This includes his foam back roller, something he never leaves home without.
“My back roller. I carry one of those dense foam rollers, and that thing just saves my life,” he stated.
Hunnam explained that he once went on a vacation to Thailand and did not pack his back roller. After a few days in, he realized that leaving his foam roller at home was a terrible idea.
Although Charlie Hunnam is usually very frugal, he avoids flying economy on long-distance flights at all costs. Instead, he bumps things up to business class, but mostly because he finds it difficult to contort himself into small spaces.
He also prefers a window seat when he flies, though he did not reveal if he gives that up whenever he travels with his longtime girlfriend, Morgana McNelis.
How does Charlie Hunnam keep his toned body?
Packing his own lunch when he flies is one way Hunnam controls his diet, but that is not the only way he keeps his body in top shape.
In a previous interview, Hunnam revealed that having a lot of sex has kept in shape over the years. Although he spends plenty of time in the gym, Hunnam makes sure that his lovemaking is part of his fitness plan.
“I also try to make love as often as I can,” Hunnam said. “That’s an important part of fitness.”
Apart from all the sex, Hunnam also does a variety of cardio exercised to stay in shape. This includes jump roping, swimming, and hiking. He also takes classes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which helps stay focused and get a good workout in.
In preparation to play King Arthur, Hunnam gained 20 pounds, most of which was muscle. To that end, he had to work out every day, which is something he absolutely loves about his job.
Given how Hunnam is seemingly always in good shape, we have to admit that he is doing something right.
