We’d expect celebrities as famous as Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner to have high expectations for dating, and it would seem that we’re right. Turner’s husband Joe Jonas recently told James Corden on The Late Late Show about an ultimatum that Turner gave him before she would even consider dating him. Did he go through with it? Well, they’ve been married for almost a year now, so he must have pulled through.

How did Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas meet?

Turner and Jonas have been together since 2016. Before that, the two had a lot of mutual friends who tried to introduce them to each other, but the timing never worked out.

Turner told Elle that they eventually met through Instagram. Jonas direct-messaged her on the social media app while he was in the U.K. performing with the Jonas Brothers, and asked if she’d like to get together while he was in town.

Turner stated that she expected him to show up with security guards and act like a typical rock star. Instead, he just showed up with a friend, and they spent the evening at a local bar with a group of her friends, as well.

Turner shared that they eventually found some time to get to know one another apart from the group.

“I remember the two of us spending only a couple of minutes on the dance floor, and then we just found a space far in the corner and we just talked,” she said. “We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I was, like, not bored. It wasn’t contrived. It wasn’t small talk — it was just so easy. And soon we were, like, inseparable.”

Jonas recently discussed with James Corden the conditions Turner set out for him when they started dating. He explained that she required him to sit down and watch all of the Harry Potter movies.

Why? Because it’s tradition in the U.K. to watch the movies every year around Christmas, and her future partner would need to be a willing participant. Jonas says that he did, indeed, sit down and watch all eight Harry Potter films and that he fell in love with them.

But Jonas had some tricks up his sleeve, as well. While being quarantined over the past month, Jonas told Corden that he’s been making Turner watch all of the Lord of the Rings films as payback.

On top of that, he says that the couple has even been building the official LEGO sets that go along with each movie, and even some Harry Potter sets, as well. That’s definitely a fun way to pass the time while stuck at home!

Sophie Turner is reportedly pregnant with the couple’s first child

Since checking off her Harry Potter requirement, the famous couple has gone on to get married. In May 2019, Turner and Jonas wed in Las Vegas, NV, then had a more formal wedding in France with their extended families in June.

This past February, multiple news outlets reported that Turner and Jonas are expecting their first child. While neither the 30-year-old musician nor the 24-year-old actress has confirmed these reports, the couple has been spotted shopping for baby clothes and Turner has been photographed multiple times wearing baggier-than-usual clothing.

Turner and Jonas have always kept their relationship details on the private side, so it’s not surprising that they have yet to confirm their pregnancy. Regardless, we can’t help but admire the future child’s life full of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and all of the LEGO sets in between.
