‘Southern Charm’: Austen Kroll Hoped Cameran Eubanks Stayed To Shut Down Cheating Rumors
Austen Kroll of Southern Charm is back for season 7 of the hit show. However, not all major players are returning to the Bravo series as Cameran Eubanks quit earlier this year. The latter left amid rumors her husband was having an extramarital affair, something which she has denied. Kroll had hoped Eubanks stayed on the reality show to defend herself from the allegations.
Why did Cameran Eubanks quit?
Eubanks had been the heart of Southern Charm since the first season as the narrator of the show. She was planning on returning for season 7 of the series, but that didn’t pan out as rumors about her love life came up. The Real World alum had shied away from showing her home life with her husband in respect to the latter.
Kathryn Dennis dropped a bombshell as season 7 started filming telling Craig Conover that she had heard Eubanks’ husband was cheating on her. As the rumor was brought up on camera, Eubanks later released a statement saying she was stepping away from the Bravo series.
“I was going to make a kind statement about why I decided to leave the show tomorrow,” Eubanks wrote in a statement on Instagram in May 2020. “However, it has come to my attention that insidious rumors are now spreading and fake articles are being written … some of which pertain to my marriage.”
Eubanks was not happy with the direction Southern Charm was going in and called her co-star out. The reality TV personality also mentioned she wasn’t leaving due to the rumors but it was something she had advised the cable network off months before.
“Drama is needed to stay relevant on reality television and sadly false rumors about others are sometimes created,” she continued. “Make of that what you will and consider the source. My decision was made and given to Bravo months ago and had absolutely nothing to do with ridiculous and fake rumors about my marriage. Please disregard any fabricated rumor.”
Why does Austen Kroll say Cameran Eubanks should’ve returned?
Kroll, who joined Southern Charm Season 4, has had to address on-camera a cheating scandal. The reality TV star had a video go viral where he allegedly cheated on his girlfriend Madison LeCroy with two other women. At the time he tried to avoid it, but it was brought up and took him by surprise.
The beer connoisseur applied this experience to what Eubanks is facing. He believes that if his former co-star came back she could control the narrative.
“I thought that Cam would have wanted to potentially come on and set the record straight, you know?” he told Us Weekly. “I can’t tell if I’m like, ‘Why didn’t you do that?’ Or, if she’s like, ‘I don’t give a s**t what y’all say about me.’ So, I don’t know if I should, like, applaud her or think that she played it wrong.”
Although Eubanks is not a cast member anymore, co-star Conover thinks he has a way of getting her back.
“I know that she enjoyed doing [the show] with us, you know, me and her and Shep [Rose] had been together since the beginning,” Conover told Us Weekly about Eubanks quitting. “So that was tough, but I have a sneaky feeling that I would be able to get her back next year, but we’ll see what happens.”
Southern Charm airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
