Kristen Stewart said she used to take any role

The Speak actor talked to Entertainment Weekly about her career. Stewart recalled how she used to be open to almost any movie role. Now, she is pickier.

“Even though it doesn’t seem like I’m somebody who wants to be extremely famous, I still want this conversation to be expansive … I used to be really intentionally the opposite of precious in terms of choosing projects. For a minute there I was like, ‘I’ll do f***ing anything!’ And honestly, it was a good place to be for a minute. But I think now I’m going to be a little more careful. I think I have a better nose for what’s going to be fruitful for me personally, as an experience, if not necessarily what’s going to thrive out in the world.”

The Twilight alum didn’t hesitate when director Pablo Larrain approached her with Spencer. Before she read the script, Stewart said to herself, “You’re not going to say ‘no’ to this.” If she had declined the role, the actor admitted she would have felt like a coward.

Kristen Stewart’s Princess Diana wears a wig

Stewart rocks her blonde locks, yet revealed she wore a wig to play Princess Diana. Some viewers are perplexed at this. However, Stewart said it was necessary for Larrain’s fast-paced filming technique.

“If it wasn’t a wig, we would have had so much less time to shoot. And we were f***ing sprinting. This was not padded or luxe in any way. We were balls to the wall, gunning through it. Which you can feel in the movie 10 or 15 minutes in—once it gets up and starts going, it doesn’t stop, it barrels. It felt that way to make it too.”

She didn’t explain why using her natural hair would have impacted filming the Spencer movie. Perhaps the wig closely matches the Princess of Wale’s hair, whereas Stewart’s darker blonde hair does not.

But this isn’t the first time a wig was used in a Kristen Stewart movie. Viewers should recall the actor’s Bella Swan Eclipse wig after she completed filming The Runaways.

Spencer will premiere in theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
