‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ featured the return of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker
Rumors and leaks ran rampant on the internet in the months leading up to Spider-Man: No Way Home and most of them involved the theory that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire would reprise their Spidey roles in the MCU movie. As it turned out, the rumors were true.
After Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Doctor Strange accidentally broke open the multiverse, Garfield and Maguire’s Peter Parkers got sucked into the MCU. Together, all three Peters worked to help the villains from other universes.
Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire made cinematic history when they acted alongside each other in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was a significant moment that fans will be talking about for years to come.
Andrew Garfield discusses an improvised line in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’
During an interview with Variety, Andrew Garfield finally opened up about starring in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor even revealed that one of his character’s most memorable lines in the film was improvised.
“There’s a line I improvised in the movie, looking at [Maguire and Holland], and I tell them I love them,” Garfield shared. “That was just me loving them.”
Right before all three Peters decide to work together as a team to stop the Spider-Man villains at the Statue of Liberty, Garfield’s character tells the other two Peters, “I love you guys.” And Maguire and Holland’s characters hilariously respond, “Thank you.”
When talking about working with Maguire and Holland, Garfield said, “I think the first time we were all in the suit together, it was hilarious because it’s like just three ordinary dudes who were just actors just hanging out. But then also, you just become a fan and say, ‘Oh my god, we’re all together in the suits, and we’re doing the pointing thing!'”
The actor continued, “There was talk about going to the bathroom and, you know, padding around the package. We talked about what worked for each of us. Tom was jealous because I have little zippers in my suit that I can get my hands out of very easily. To work his phone, he had to use his nose because he couldn’t access his hands. We would have deeper conversations, too, and talk about our experiences with the character.”
Will the actor ever play Peter Parker again?
While speaking with Variety, Andrew Garfield revealed whether or not he would ever put on the Spider-Man suit again after Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right,” the actor said. “Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring Andrew Garfield, is now playing in theaters.
