According to Baltimore’s NBC affiliate station, Doughty phoned Baltimore police at 4:15 am on New Years’ morning after she and her live-in girlfriend, Tiffany Wilson, got into an argument. Police arrived to find Wilson with stab wounds to her chest. Wilson was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.
Per the police documents, Doughty claims Wilson stabbed herself. The medical examiner’s office says otherwise, claiming the injuries to Wilson are not inconsistent with self-inflicted wounds.
As for what sparked the argument, police investigators read text messages between Doughty and Wilson that reveal Wilson was ending the relationship. Doughty allegedly went to visit Wilson’s home to return her
Doughty is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and assault with a deadly weapon.
People Magazine reports the investigation found evidence of a potential struggle. Per the report:
“Investigation revealed evidence of a physical altercation throughout the apartment, which included displaced furniture, scuff marks on the walls, and hair and jewelry consistent with having been forcefully removed from a person during an assault. The kitchen where the victim was located showed a significant amount of blood evidence and a large knife with suspected blood on the blade and handle.”
