‘Star Wars:’ Is ‘The Mandalorian’ on Netflix?
It’s an Emmy-nominated series and a favorite among Star Wars fans. With new episodes of The Mandalorian premiering on a weekly basis, some fans are wondering how else they can stream this Disney+ original.
Is this Star Wars series available for streaming on Netflix or Hulu? Here’s what we know about season 1 and season 2 of The Mandalorian.
‘The Mandalorian’ is the first-ever live-action ‘Star Wars’ series
It’s a galaxy far, far away but there are plenty of stories still to tell. In 2019, Disney premiered its first-ever live-action Star Wars series. That’s the Disney+ original titled The Mandalorian, the story of one masked bounty hunter.
This series premiered its first episode at the Disney+ launch date. With new episodes premiering as a weekly basis, fans fell in love with the green, force-weilding Child, nicknamed “Baby Yoda” and his bounty hunter best friend.
“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe,” creator Jon Favreau said in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly. “The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic…”
‘The Mandalorian’ is not available for streaming on Netflix
Because this series is exclusive to Disney’s streaming service, it’s not available for binge-watching on only rival platforms. That includes Netflix and HBO Max. Although Disney XD broadcasted several animated Star Wars shows, The Mandalorian isn’t available on any television networks.
Prior to the release of Disney+, Disney-owned content was available for binge-watching on the rival streaming platform. That includes movies released by Marvel like Ant-Man and the Wasp, by Disney like Ralph Breaks the Internet, and by Star Wars like Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Other ‘Star Wars’ content is available on Disney’s streaming platform
The Mandalorian isn’t the only series exclusive to Disney+. The subscription service also released shows like High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2.
Thanks to Disney’s partnership with Lucasfilm, Star Wars movies and television shows are available for streaming anytime for Disney+ subscribers. There’s movies from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, as well as movies in the original trilogy like Empire Strikes Back.
Disney also announced its plan to release other exclusive television shows on its streaming platform. That includes Star Wars: Rangers Of The New Republic and Ahsoka, which tells the story of one character featured in The Mandalorian.
There’s also the highly anticipated series featuring Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and future seasons of The Mandalorian expected to premiere on Disney+.
