‘Star Wars’: New Movie From Kevin Feige Will be Penned by ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Writer
Since the Skywalker saga ended with Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, Disney has been trying to figure out what to do with the next generation of Star Wars. While television has been working out well so far, it’s still unclear where the movies are going. At least one project has some more updates now as it’s being reported that the Star Wars movie from Marvel boss Kevin Feige will be written by the same writer of Doctor Strange 2.
Kevin Feige is producing a new ‘Star Wars’ movie for Disney
In 2019, it was announced that Feige would be producing a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm and Disney. According to techradar.com, not much has been announced about the project since. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy did say the project is still in “early stages.” There have been rumors that Chloe Zhao, director of Eternals and Nomadland, would be tasked to direct, but nothing has been confirmed.
Many Star Wars fans are wondering where the next Star Wars film will take them in a galaxy far, far away. There still has been no updates about Feige’s Star Wars project in terms of when and where it will take place. However, now there is more information about who will be directing this new project.
‘Doctor Strange 2’ writer Michael Waldron will write Feige’s ‘Star Wars’ movie
In January 2021, it was reported by Deadline that Waldron would be writing Feige’s Star Wars movie. However, we now have verbal confirmation that Waldron is working on this as the writer spoke about it on a recent episode of the Deadline Hero Nation Podcast. The writer said that he is not returning to write Loki season 2 as he is busy with Star Wars.
“It’s been reported – and I’ve talked about this – that Eric Martin has taken over as head writer on [Loki] season 2,” Waldron said. “Eric was my second in command through season 1… and obviously I’ve been busy off writing this little Star Wars movie as well. And yeah, that’s been made by another guy named Kevin. But I think [Loki season 2] is going to be fantastic.”
Waldron previously worked with Feige on the first season of Loki and on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Waldron’s other credits include Rick and Morty and Heels.
Feige’s project is not the only movie being developed at Lucasfilm
Star Wars has recently made a shift to live-action television programming and has found a lot of success with The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Obi-Wan Kenobi featuring Ewan McGregor’s return as the titular character is coming soon to Disney+. Other TV shows in the works include Ahsoka, Andor, Lando, and The Acolyte.
In the world of movies, Star Wars has a few projects with little-known details. The one we know the most about is Rogue Squadron, which is being directed by Patty Jenkins. In addition to that and Feige’s movie, there is another movie coming from director Taika Waititi.
Star Wars is currently streaming on Disney+.
