‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’: Adam Driver Wants You to Forget He Was Ever Kylo Ren or Ben Solo
In the galaxy far far away, is an actor ever really done with the Star Wars films? Even the characters who die on-screen eventually show up again as a memory. Fan favorites from the final movie in the Skywalker saga were introduced in 2015 with The Force Awakens and then grew deeper into viewers’ hearts during The Last Jedi in 2017.
Fans do not want to believe that Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac will never be in another Star Wars movie or TV series. However, that might be the case with these actors. Let’s take a look at Adam Driver and why he wants you to forget he was ever Kylo Ren or Ben Solo.

Why are fans calling for Adam Driver to reprise his role as Ben Solo?
Marvel is producing comics that delve into Ben Solo’s upbringing. They give a background story to how Ben becomes Kylo Ren while allowing fans to fall in love with this broken man. Viewers both hate and love the comic because it makes his death in the movie that much more upsetting.
“This comic is a tragic, haunting reminder of why Ben Solo should have had a chance at living atonement,” commented one Twitter fan on Marvel’s release of the new comic.
Star Wars fans are tweeting numerous hashtags begging Disney to bring Ben back, including #BenSoloDeservesBetter and #BringBenSoloBack.
“That Kylo Ren comic is such a slap in the face,” added another Twitter user. “They made us love a character who was abused and manipulated since he was in his mother’s womb and then discarded him without anyone worrying about him or crying [over] his death.”
Many other fans feel the same way as these Twitter users. They hate how Ben died in the film after he redeemed himself.
Despite fan requests, why won’t Adam Driver be reprising his role as Ben Solo?
In an interview with the International news outlet, LeMatin, Driver discusses his feelings about returning to the role of Kylo Ren in another film or TV series.
“This is not at all on the agenda,” Driver quickly responds. “This experience will forever remain one of the highlights of my career, but I aspire to other adventures.”
The Marriage Story star went so far as to say that he wants fans to forget he ever played the role of Kylo Ren.
“By 2020, I want to disappear,” he tells LeMatin. “I want to be forgotten so that I can be offered other very different projects.”
A few other actors in The Rise of Skywalker left their responses open-ended to the possibility of returning to Star Wars. However, Driver’s answer is a definite, “No.” If Ben Solo ever returns in a film or TV series, it will be a different actor.
Would any other main characters from ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ reprise their role if offered the opportunity?
It’s the big question on everyone’s’ minds, so various news outlets spoke to Ridley, Boyega, and Isaac about returning to Star Wars in the future.
“I can’t actually imagine it right now,” Ridley told Vulture. “Right now, it feels like a really nice full stop on the Skywalker series.”
It sounds like Rey will not be returning to Star Wars anytime soon. What about Boyega and Isaac?
“You ain’t going to Disney Plus me!” Boyega told Variety with a laugh.
Finn will not be in a Disney+ spin-off, but he did leave the door open for a return to the big screen. Boyega admitted to Variety that he would be willing to do another film if both Ridley and Isaac were involved.
“[I’m] happy and feeling fulfilled that the task is complete,” Isaac said when speaking with reporters from Variety. “So, I can’t imagine what it would be that would make me want to redo this thing or revisit it.”
The general feeling from all four of the main characters in The Rise of Skywalker is that the saga is complete. Not one feels the need to reprise their roles, at least not anytime soon.
For now, fans will have to settle for rewatching the sequel trilogy to get their fill of Ben, Rey, Finn, and Poe. Be sure after you watch it though that you forget that Driver played Kylo.
