‘Station 19’ Renewed for Season 6, Which Prompted Cast Tweets You Won’t Want to Miss
One day after Grey’s Anatomy’s Season 19 Renewal, ABC announced Station 19 is officially renewed for season 6. Jaina Lee Ortiz, Barrett Doss, and Lachlan Buchanan were among the Station 19 cast to already share their thoughts on the renewal.
‘Station 19’ Season 6 renewal comes 1 day after ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 19 renewal
On Jan. 10, 2022, Ellen Pompeo inked a new deal with ABC Signature for another year of Grey’s Anatomy. Then one day later, ABC shared the news that they also renewed the firefighter spinoff Station 19 with the medical drama for the 2022-2023 season. Krista Vernoff returns to executive produce both dramas and continue with endless crossover events.
“It’s a privilege to tell stories of our heroic first responders, who on our show and in real life put their lives on the line every day to keep us all safe,” Vernoff told Deadline. “I’m so grateful to Disney and ABC for the early pickup for season six of Station 19! It’s a tribute to the incredible work of our talented cast, crew, writers, and creative team, as well as the dedication of our loyal fans who tune in every week.”
The renewal prompted celebratory cast tweets
Station 19 cast members Ortiz, Doss, Buchanan, Jason George, Boris Kodjoe, Grey Damon, Jay Hayden, Danielle Savre, Stefania Spampinato, and Carlos Miranda will likely return for season 6. However, Okieriete “Oak” Onaodowan chose to leave Station 19 in season 5. Several Station 19 cast members shared feelings on social media after ABC renewed the show.
“Good news for y’all,” Jaina Lee Ortiz tweeted. “Thank you to our S19 team, everyone @ ABC & our supporters for keeping the [fire] alive!”
“Sexy Season SIX?!!!” Barrett Doss tweeted on Jan. 11 after ABC renewed Station 19 for season 6.
Congrats to the @Station19 team!!! It was a no-brainer, of course,” Lachlan Buchanon tweeted.
Jason George, who portrays Ben Warren, is also happy and grateful for the Station 19 Season 6 renewal.
“#THANKYOU To all the #Station19 #fans who’ve been watching and all the fans that are going to watch,” George tweeted. “We still have over half of #season5 coming at ya. And now you have #season6 to look forward to. #muchlove @station19 @greysabc”
When does ‘Station 19’ return in 2022?
Despite the production delay, Station 19 Season 5 and Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 will both return on Feb. 24, 2022. The delay won’t push back the dramatic Station 19 Grey’s Anatomy crossover event planned for that evening as of right now.
When Station 19 Season 5 Episode 9 returns, Ben Warren (Jason George) frantically tries to save Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd). He gathers his team and rushes to the scene of an SUV crash where Owen went over Leon’s Ridge in a car.
In the Station 19 Grey’s Anatomy crossover event trailer, viewers watch the firefighters discover one civilian without a pulse. Although the civilian described in the trailer is probably the SUV’s driver. He had a stroke in the Dec. 16 episode, which caused the crash. However, Owen’s fate is still shaky. Could he survive the 100-foot drop over the side of a cliff?
