However, when the community tries to push the new engine into the bay, it’s so hot they can barely touch it. Later the head of Public Relations tries to push Sullivan into becoming the face of the fire department because of his sudden TikTok fame as “Fire Zaddy.”

Meanwhile, Andy stresses about sleeping with Captain Beckett (Josh Randall) to her friend at Station 23. Theo suggests that she’s still in love with Sullivan. When Andy and Sullivan run into each other while at work, he tells her that he wants her to fight for their marriage.

Ben Warren takes Joey on a ride-along

Ben Warren (Jason George) takes Joey Phillips (Noah Alexander Gerry) to ride along in the AID car. Joey is the formerly homeless child that Ben and Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) foster. Jack Gibson (Grey Damon) asks Joey about his siblings and admits he grew up in the foster care system, too. When they arrive on the scene of a homeless patient, Joey finds his old friend, Ameen, having congestive heart failure.

When Ben and Jack start performing CPR, Joey insists that Ameen did not want to be resuscitated. After a massive fight over the situation, the loss of his friend makes Joey realize his mission is to change things for homeless people like his friend.

‘Station 19’ gets called to the scene of a crash in the season 5 episode 3 recap

Before the station gets called to the crash scene, Vic Hughes (Barrett Doss) suggests that Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan) try some on-the-job training for his Crisis One Team. However, he’s stressed over the red tape.

When the firefighters arrive on the scene, they find the road broke apart because it became too hot, causing a considerable mass of cars on top of each other. Maya, Dean, and Vic try to pull out two people, but they get a Crisis One call in the meantime. Captain Beckett doesn’t let Dean or Vic leave the scene, and they worry over who will get called to the scene instead.

After saving a young boy’s life, Maya apologizes to Carina for her decision about children. Maya also realizes that she enjoyed helping the child and could eventually want kids in the future.

After missing the call to Crisis One, Dean asks the rest of the firefighters to join the team and help. Sullivan suggests using his social media appeal to help get the Fire Department on board. So, Sullivan touches base with the PR rep about Crisis One. They eventually complete the “Push-In” for the new engine in the final moments of Station 19 Season 5 Episode 3.
