‘Station 19’ Season 5 Finale Date Set and It’s Not a ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Crossover — Here’s Why
ABC announced the Station 19 Season 5 finale date, and it’s shocking news — it’s not a Grey’s Anatomy crossover event! Many fans couldn’t bear to watch another crossover. Instead, viewers get one full hour of Station 19 Season 5 Episode 18 with Jaina Lee Ortiz, Grey Damon, Boris Kodjoe, Barrett Doss, Jason George, Jay Hayden, Carlos Miranda, Danielle Savre, and Stefania Spampinato.
When is the ‘Station 19’ Season 5 finale?
The Station 19 Season 5 finale airs on ABC on Wednesday, May 19, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET. Although ABC generally kept Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy on the same finale week schedule, this spring, the lineup changed. Station 19 Season 5 finale airs on May 19, but Grey’s Anatomy scores a stand-alone two-hour finale for season 18 on May 26. The medical drama also celebrates its 400th episode that evening, so that’s probably why it gets a stand-alone conclusion.
‘Station 19’ Season 5 finale, ‘Crawl Out Through the Fallout’ — What to Expect
The Station 19 Season 5 finale will continue to follow Andy Herrera (Ortiz) as she prepares for her manslaughter trial. In episode 14, Jeremy sexually assaulted Andy after a flirtatious evening at the bar. However, Andy fought off his aggressive attack and ran away. In episode 15, Sullivan, Maya, and Vic treat Jeremy in the field, but he dies at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Then, in the last few minutes of “When The Party’s Over,” officers arrest Andy.
In episode 16, Fire Chief Natasha Ross (Merle Dandridge) suspended her pending the trial results. Then in Station 19 Episode 17, Andy received good news from her attorney, Luisa Berrol (Jennifer Jalene). The court agreed to allow Andy’s colleagues to testify in her case.
“Andy tracks down a witness to testify at her trial,” the Station 19 Season 5 finale ABC press release reads. “Meanwhile, Carina and Maya deal with a stressful situation, and the crew responds to a car wreck.”
In the season finale, Andy continues to fight by finding a witness to testify on her behalf. Since her storyline does not involve a hospital, it’s hard to see where Grey’s Anatomy characters might fit, so it’s no surprise that it’s not a crossover event.
Also, in the finale, Carina and Maya tackle a “stressful situation.” This synopsis is likely about their attempts to conceive a baby. In episode 16, Jack contributed sperm to home insemination. However, during the ordeal, he finds out that he has a brother, who he meets in episode 17.
Since it’s a firefighting show, the Station 19 Season 5 finale will also likely include a life or death situation with the car crash that ends in a cliffhanger. Sorry fans, it’s what they do.
Is ‘Station 19’ renewed?
Luckily, Station 19 Season 6 is a sure thing. ABC renewed the firefighter drama for another season on Jan. 11, 2022. The network also inked a new deal with Ellen Pompeo for another season of Grey’s Anatomy, so both Shondaland shows return in the fall of 2022.
