Steve Carell’s Connection to ‘America’s Next Top Model’
Steve Carell is a talented actor with a lengthy career in show business. Most people recognize Carell from his role in the comedy series The Office, but he has starred in several other movies and TV shows since. Some Carell fans might be surprised to learn about Carell’s connection to Tyra Banks’ competition series America’s Next Top Model. Carell is known by many for playing Michael Scott, the quirky, ignorant boss from The Office. Outside of the NBC comedy, which ran from 2005 until 2013, Carell has appeared in several movies and series.
The actor stars in the Apple TV series The Morning Show with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. Carell also plays the lead in Space Force, a comedy series he works on with Office director Greg Daniels.
Carell has also worked on several movies since his time on The Office. Those movies include the Despicable Me films, Foxcatcher, Anchorman 2, Welcome to Marwen, and Minions: The Rise of Gru, which is expected to release sometime in 2022.
Steve Carell and Lio Tipton were in ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ together
Crazy, Stupid, Love was released in 2011. Carell stars alongside Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and Kevin Bacon in this romantic comedy. Lio Tipton, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model in cycle 11, also appears in this film.
When Cal Weaver (Carell) learns his wife Emily (Moore) has been unfaithful and wants a divorce, his world turns upside down. In his 40s and newly single, Cal confides in Jacob (Gosling), a self-proclaimed player who takes Cal under his wing and teaches him to explore relationships again.
Tipton plays the Weaver family’s teenage babysitter, Jessica, who has a crush on Cal. As Jessica tries to woo Cal over in his lowly state, the Weaver’s 13-year-old son, Robbie, seeks to win Jessica over at the same time.
Lio Tipton placed third in ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Cycle 11
Tipton was the third-place winner of America’s Next Top Model season in 2008. She placed behind runner-up Samantha Potter and winner McKey Sullivan. Today, Tipton is considered one of the most successful ANTM alums.
Their career took off after appearing in the modeling competition. Tipton led the short-lived ABC romance Manhattan Love Story. Plus, they worked with other big names aside from Carell, including Scarlett Johansson in Lucy and Nicholas Hoult in Warm Bodies.
Tipton also appears in The Green Hornet, Two Night Stand, Mississippi Grind, and Summer Nights. On the television front, Tipton has had roles in the CBS series Why Women Kill and Limitless, as well as a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory.
Lio Tipton announces new pronouns during Pride Month 2021
This year, Tipton shared big news with their fans. “My name is Lio,” Tipton captioned an Instagram photo on June 2, 2021.
“My pronouns are they/them,” they continue. “I am proud to announce I am queer and I identify as non-binary. I hope to give as much love and support back to those who continue to show love and support for the Pride community at large.” Tipton’s colleagues and former America’s Next Top Model contestant from cycle 11 Isis King — the show’s first transgender competitor — supported Tipton’s announcement. “LOVE YOU!!!” King commented on the post.
As far as Tipton’s future projects, they have several movies in the works. Stay tuned for Vengeance, Riddle of Fire, and Continue, all of which are in post-production.
