How Much Does Steve Carell Make on ‘The Morning Show’?
Steve Carell has helmed several successful TV shows and movies over the years, from The Office to The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Apple TV+’s original series The Morning Show is his latest big project, and his role as disgraced morning show mogul Mitch Kessler has been lauded for its timeliness.
‘The Morning Show’ helped launch Apple TV+
The streaming wars are in full swing, with newcomers such as Paramount+, discovery+, and Peacock joining the fray. Apple TV+ launched in November 2019 as one of the first of this “second wave” of streamers (Disney+ launched just a few days later).
The Morning Show launched Apple TV+ as one of its original shows and has helped draw new subscribers to the platform. Since the premiere of The Morning Show, entertainment industry giants such as Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, and Billie Eilish have released original content on the streaming service.
The Morning Show has been renewed for a second season but production on all Apple TV+ shows is behind schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘The Morning Show’ has many big-name stars
The Morning Show follows the antics of — you guessed it — a morning TV show, and all the happenings in the lives of the hosts as well as the crew. Carell plays a co-host of the show who gets ousted after being accused of sexual misconduct.
Carell is just one of many accomplished actors in The Morning Show, all of whom were big draws to the program. Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon star as the co-hosts of the titular morning show.
The show’s behind-the-scenes action is run by characters played by Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Some stars in the entertainment industry appear on the series as themself, including Kelly Clarkson, Cheyanne Jackson, and Maria Sharapova.
Steve Carell’s salary on ‘The Morning Show’ and his net worth
Naturally, to be able to hire actors of Aniston and Carell’s caliber costs a lot of money, and Apple made sure that their stars were well compensated for their work and committed to bringing The Morning Show to life.
According to Variety, both Aniston and Witherspoon were paid upwards of $1 million for the one season they’ve worked on so far. Carell, meanwhile, was reportedly given $750,000 for his time on screen. The discrepancy may have to do with the fact that Aniston and Witherspoon are the main captains of the Morning Show ship and appear in more scenes than Carell does.
Regardless of his lower pay, $750,000 is still just a drop in the bucket for Carell. WealthyGorilla reports that Carell’s net worth in 2021 hovers around $80 million.
