Stevie Nicks Says Christine McVie’s Psychic Mom Made a Scarily Accurate Prediction About Fleetwood Mac

Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie bonded over being the only female members of the classic rock supergroup Fleetwood Mac for many years. Nicks revealed that McVie’s mother, who was a psychic healer, predicted something about the iconic band. Here’s the premonition and what McVie has said about her mother’s psychic abilities.

Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks became close as the only female members of Fleetwood Mac. Bekka Bramlett was a singer in the band for a couple of years, but Nicks and McVie are the best-known female faces of the group. 

McVie joined the band in 1970, and Nicks entered the group with guitarist Lindsey Buckingham on New Year’s Eve in 1974.

McVie and Nicks quickly bonded over being two of the only women in the male-dominated rock music industry. In a 2020 interview with CBS, the “Rhiannon” singer shared that she and McVie made a pact with each other early in their careers. 

“We made a pact at the very beginning,” she said, “That if we were ever in a room of super famous guitar players that didn’t treat us with the respect that we thought that we deserved, that we would just stand up and say, ‘This party’s over,’ and we would walk out.”

Nicks added, “We never actually did have to do that, so that was a nice surprise. We never had to make a scene.”

After Stevie Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac, the group’s self-titled 1975 album and its 1977 follow-up Rumours launched them to new heights of fame. Nicks said that Christine McVie’s psychic medium mother had a shockingly accurate premonition about the band’s success. 

“We knew immediately that Fleetwood Mac was going to be huge,” Nicks told The New Yorker in February 2022. “We knew, almost like we could just look into the crystal ball. Christine’s mom was a medium – like, a psychic medium, right? And her mom had a lot to say about it, like, ‘It’s gonna be huge.’”

The ‘Songbird’ singer believes her mother’s psychic abilities were real

Christine McVie doesn’t often speak of her mother’s psychic abilities because, as she put it, she “just wanted her to be an ordinary mom.” But in a March 2019 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the Fleetwood Mac singer and keyboardist opened up about her mother’s gift.

When asked if she had inherited any of her mother’s psychic abilities, McVie responded, “Well, I believe they were real. She was a healer.”

She went on to share a story about how her mother’s gift may have healed a family friend’s terminal illness. “There was an old friend of my dad’s, in Newcastle – this rich old lady who lived in a run-down castle. She had terminal cancer,” McVie said. 

“She sent a pair of her kid gloves to my mother, who wore one during the night, and a couple of weeks later there was a phone call: the doctors were amazed that all the cancer was completely gone.”
