Stevie Nicks Shared Her Number 1 Necessity While Traveling: ‘Clear Priorities’
As someone who’s been a successful touring musician for decades, Stevie Nicks is a frequent traveler. Because of this, she has her travel routine successfully planned out. She also knows which items to prioritize so that they never get lost. Nicks shared what she always keeps in her carry-on bag when she travels.

Though Nicks has traveled across city, state, and country lines in her life, her travel schedule has been practically nonexistent in the past several years. Nicks canceled a number of concert dates and most other forms of travel out of concern that she would lose her singing voice if she caught the coronavirus.
“If I get it, I will probably never sing again,” she wrote in a Twitter post. “Put me on a ventilator and I will be hoarse for the rest of my life ~ I don’t have much time … I am 72 years old …This virus can kill you.”
Nicks had planned for shows in 2021 but decided to cancel them out of an abundance of caution.
“While I’m vaccinated, at my age I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the five performances I had planned for 2021,” she said, per The Guardian. “These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made. I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us.”
She shared her top priority while traveling
Nicks has once again put tour dates on her calendar, meaning that she will be traveling again in 2022. She shared that when she does get on a plane, she makes sure all her makeup and hair products are in her seat with her.
“I never check my makeup bags when traveling,” she told People. “I could get to Germany, and my clothes and equipment will be lost, but I’ll have plenty of makeup and shampoo. It shows clear priorities!”
Ever since the ’70s, Nicks has employed the same makeup look: dark shadow in the crease of her eyelids à la Greta Garbo. She has professional makeup artists on staff, but she likes to stick to a consistent color palette when she does her own look.
“I stick to a palette of browns, golds and mauves, and mauvey pink lipsticks,” she told Us Weekly. “Brand doesn’t really matter to me, as long as I see something I like — Chanel, Clinique, Lancome, Revlon.”
Though Nicks keeps her makeup under her close watch, she is careful to take it off every night before bed.
“I never go to sleep with my makeup on,” she explained. “People say that I have really good skin, and I think that’s why.”
Stevie Nicks has a very specific bag that she uses
Nicks likely carries all her makeup products in her Hayden-Harnett satchel. As of 2015, it was the only bag she owned.
“It’s a really beautiful leather bag that I bought about ten years ago,” she explained. “Everybody has forever been saying, ‘How come you don’t get a new bag?’ My answer is because I like this bag. I don’t really care about designer bags and I don’t have the energy to be switching bags all the time.”
