Due to production delays caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19), it has been two years since Stranger Things fans have caught a glimpse of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and their friends. Viewers are eager for news about when the next season will hit Netflix. Luckily, it sounds like an announcement about ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 will be dropping soon.

Filming for ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 will be finished ‘imminently

In an interview with Collider, Executive Producer Shawn Levy was asked the status of filming for the upcoming season. He replied:

“I have been, along with the [Duffer] brothers, we have been tag teaming and directing it as recently as now. So not quite done filming. Imminently.”

Levy went on to explain that, while fans might feel irritated about the delay, he and creators Matt and Ross Duffer feel frustrated, as well. When asked about the long gap between seasons, he said “It’s an unholy gap.”

“As much as it pains our viewers, that it will have been so long. Trust me, it pains Matt, Ross and I more. It is a kind of perfect storm, combination of COVID shutdown, slower pace of filming in COVID protocols and health protocols, which are necessary,” Levy added.

When will ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 premiere?

So if filming is nearly complete, when can audiences expect the next season to arrive on Netflix?

The short answer is, we still don’t know but we’ll hopefully have more information soon. The safe bet is on spring of 2022, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

In the interview, Levy said fans would soon be given a ‘ballpark’ estimate of the release date, adding, “I’m not allowed to say more.” He went on to hint at the possibility of another teaser or announcement of some sort that might include the date.

“It’s not a full trailer, I can tell you that. Maybe it’s a little taste of something,” he said.

What can we expect for the plot of Season 4 of Stranger Things?

When it finally arrives, what can we expect in terms of the plot for the upcoming season? According to Levy, it will be “by far, far, far, the most ambitious of the seasons.”

He confirmed there will be action taking place both in Hawkins and in Russia, as we expected. But there will also be “an entire storyline set elsewhere,” Levy teased.

At the end of Season 3, it looked like Hopper (David Harbour) had died. But we already know from previous teases and post-credit scene that he survived and has found himself in a not-so-great situation in Russia.

Back in Hawkins, Eleven will have no shortage of terrifying drama to deal with. Of course, when is she not fighting off nightmare creatures of one sort or another?

In the most recent trailer — which was released online and aired during the Tokyo Olympics — she can be heard saying “It’s coming” and “It’s almost here.” If that’s not creepy foreshadowing, what is?

There’s also a scene of her being pulled away by two official-looking men in suits, which certainly can’t bode well for her.

More Teases for ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4

Footage released on Twitter shows more Dungeons and Dragons action. And we have the titles for the first three episodes — “Hellfire Club,” “Tick Tok Mr. Clock,” and “You Snooze You Lose.” Those titles were revealed on official social media.

The name of the second episode isn’t the only reference to clocks, as the image of a clock has also shown up on the show’s Twitter and in a teaser. So what’s up with that?

Clearly, the next season will have a lot of questions to answer, and fans will be more than ready to see how it all plays out.
