Just because the cast members of Stranger Things spend many of their days on set, doesn’t mean that they don’t go to class. Some of them are just entering high school. Some are heading to college. And some have already obtained degrees.

Here’s how far each cast member of Stranger Things got in school.

Gaten Matarazzo

Gaten Matarazzo — aka Dustin Henderson — is in high school. The 16-year-old even attended junior prom back in May with his girlfriend, Lizzy Yu, wearing a plum-colored jacket, white shirt, and black pants with a matching tie.

It’s unclear whether the actor plans on attending college after high school, but he says it might be in the cards for his beloved Netflix character. “[Dustin will] probably going to college and get his Master’s (degree) and then become like a Nobel Prize-winner. He seems like a smartypants,” he told The Hollywood Reporter

Finn Wolfhard

According to IMDb, Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, said in 2017 that he was attending a Catholic school. Once the 16-year-old is all grown up, he has plans on venturing deeper into the entertainment world. “I mean, I love acting, but I really wanna direct. And to write,” he told Dazed in 2016.

Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder reportedly has a high school diploma, but her time in school wasn’t easy.

Before she burst onto the scene with roles in films like Lucas (1986) and Beetlejuice (1988) she attended Kenilworth Junior High in Petaluma, California, where she experienced bullying due to her boyish haircut and preference for men’s clothes.

The bullying even continued after Beetlejuice, in which she starred at the age of 17. However, she got the last laugh. She reportedly graduated from high school in 1989 with a 4.0-grade point average.

Noah Schnapp

We’re pretty sure Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) is in high school. The 14-year-old has previously discussed his love for education, like the time in 2016 when he said that while he enjoys working on the show, he has to “hit the books.”

Caleb McLaughlin

Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas Sinclair on the show, recently graduated from high school. Now, the 17-year-old is gearing up to begin college in the fall of 2019.

“I was home-schooled before I got into Stranger Things,” he revealed to People in July. “I just finished high school, I graduated. So I’m done, but I’m going to college this fall. Just take some courses, online courses. Going to do the home-schooling thing again.”

“I’m pretty excited,” he continued. “Just stay educated, man.”

Right on.

Millie Bobby Brown

Like her co-star, Millie Bobby Brown has been home-schooled for the past few years, according to a 2017 tweet from the Stranger Things star. And she loves it. “I’ve been home-schooled for the past 5 years now and [it] has worked well for me,” the tweet read.

Sadie Sink

The actress, who plays Maxine “Max” Mayfield, attends school in Atlanta. The 17-year-old told W magazine in 2018 that she was considering taking the SAT, which means college might be on her radar.

But she’s also been dabbling in modeling, so you might see her doing more in that field, too. “I love it; I’d love to do more. It’s so much fun,” she told the outlet.

David Harbour

Ah, our first college graduate. David Harbour, who you might know as Chief Hopper, graduated from Dartmouth College in 1997. There’s even a photo floating around of him back in those days with some Steve Harrington-esque hair. No, seriously — there is. See it for yourself here.

Natalia Dyer

Natalia Dyer — aka Nancy Wheeler — is a high school graduate. After graduation, the now-22-year-old went on to attend New York University. But once Netflix tapped her for Stranger Things, she jetted off to Atlanta to film. It’s unclear whether she’s still enrolled in college.

Joe Keery

Another college grad here. Joe Keery, known for his role as Steve Harrington, graduated from The Theatre School at DePaul University in 2014. After graduating, he began auditioning for projects, and, soon enough, he received a role in Stranger Things.

Charlie Heaton

It seems like the 25-year-old actor, famed for portraying Jonathan Byers, did not finish high school. But, according to The Evening Standard, he’s been learning through his career.

“It’s the best way! You can go to school and learn and that works for some people. But I think the best kind of learning is practical and learning on the job,” he said, according to the outlet.

Dacre Montgomery

Dacre Montgomery, who plays bad boy Billy Hargrove, seems totally different than the character he portrays. This 24-year-old star graduated from Edith Cowan University in 2015, where he earned a degree in acting, according to Seventeen magazine.

But school wasn’t easy. In an Instagram post shared on July 22, Montgomery said he struggled with academics, as well as the ladies.

Maya Hawke

It seems that Hawke, known for her role as Robin Buckley, has a high school diploma from Saint Ann’s, described by Elle as an “arts-oriented private school in Brooklyn.” She went on to study at Juilliard, but she dropped out to pursue acting.
