Netflix’s global fan event, TUDUM, released a bevy of new information and clips for over 70 shows and movies. However, no fans were more excited than Stranger Things fans. With filming completed, most of us waited on pins and needles to see what new information about season 4 we would get.

While some thought showrunners would release episode titles or a specific release date, most tempered their expectations to just a teaser for Stranger Things Season 4. That’s precisely what we got.

'Stranger Things' Season 4 stars Joe Keery and Gaten Matarazzo in a production still from 'Stranger Things' Season 3.

Joe Keery and Gaten Matarazzo kick off the ‘Stranger Things’ segment at ‘Tudum’

All new Stranger Things Season 4 news was scheduled for the first hour of the event, so fans didn’t have to wait long. We were met with the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, Joe Keery, and Gaten Matarazzo. Keery, who plays Steve Harrington, and Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson, have become one of the show’s most popular duos due to their unlikely friendship.

The two characters developed a bond in Stranger Things Season 2 when Dustin needed help with his new pet. Steve reluctantly agreed to help, but the two became friends and have remained friends ever since. The two actors presented the clip and promised fans would love it because it features each of them.

The latest’ Stranger Things’ Season 4 teaser revolves around the Creel family

Victor Creel, played by Robert Englund of A Nightmare on Elm Street fame, is a new character introduced in Stranger Things Season 4. He’s described as “a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.” The teaser released at TUDUM gives fans a glimpse of the Creel family as they stand before a large Victorian house, presumably their new home.

They seem like a happy family in 1950s suburbia. However, after moving in, we see the lights begin to flicker, and they hear strange noises coming from the attic. The lights are a dead giveaway that something from the Upside Down is lurking nearby. However, in the next few seconds, the screen briefly flashes to Victor standing at the door with the bodies of his two children lying on the floor behind him.

The teaser then reunites with some of our friends from Hawkins, Indiana. Steve, Dustin, Lucas, Robin, and Max are shown breaking into the Creel house as Steve asks, “Could you maybe clarify what sort of clues we’re supposed to be looking for here?” As the group walks upstairs, the teaser slowly closes in on a grandfather clock in an attic. Then the screen flashes and the clock is in the Upside Down. The teaser closes out with the number “2022” in the Stranger Things font.

Could the murders be the work of the Demogorgon?

In the mini clip dropped on Sept. 24, fans saw several microfiche images of the local paper when the Creel family was murdered. The headlines mentioned a “vengeful demon” and an “angry spirit.” We know Victor is blamed for the murder of his family, but we’re not so sure he’s guilty. Could the demon he referred to be the Demogorgon?

If that’s the case, then our next question is how the Demogorgon got into the Creel house, to begin with. We’ve seen several images of this clock. In this latest teaser, with it being in the Upside Down, many of us are wondering if it’s a portal. This would explain the flickering lights and possibly Victor’s innocence.

We won’t know anything until Stranger Things Season 4 is released, which won’t be until 2022. Hopefully, it’s in the first quarter of 2022. For now, we’ll have to be satisfied with deciphering all the potential clues in this latest teaser.
