Stranger Things Season 4 is still months away. Fans have endured a wild ride since season 3 premiered in 2019. Due to a global pandemic, a full three years will pass before we hang out with our friends in Hawkins, Indiana, again. Thankfully, Netflix gifted us with some pretty stellar content on Stranger Things Day this year. While some fans found the minimal amount of information we know about the upcoming season to be an arrogant move by the showrunners, some of us are just glad to have new content to pore over.

Netflix recently tweeted about ‘Stranger Things,’ and it feels like it might be a hint

Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer have never been shy about dropping clues for the upcoming season. In fact, there’s always so much speculation about the show that you can easily get overwhelmed with what’s real and what’s something a random fan makes up. That’s why a recent tweet from Netflix about Stranger Things Season 4 has plenty of fans scratching their heads.

The tweet, which Netflix posted on Dec. 14, 2021, read, “Santa, can it be Summer already?” It also included four different pictures.

The first was an image of Kevin McAllister, Macaulay Culkin’s famous character from Home Alone. The photo had captioning from the movie included Kevin saying, “Would you please tell him, instead of presents this year, I just want my family back.” In the film, Kevin believes he accidentally wished his family away. In reality, they forgot him at home when they went on vacation to France.

The three other images included the main characters from Stranger Things. Robin, Steve, and Erica as the Scoops Troop in one photo. Nancy, Jonathan, Mike, Max, Eleven, Will, and Lucas are in the second photo. Finally, we see Joyce and Hopper in the third picture.

Of course, fans immediately began to wonder what it could mean. Could we get a release date for Stranger Things Season 4 as a Christmas present? What are the chances of a full-blown trailer?

Most fans seem to think we’ll get a ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 release date

In the Hawkins AV Club subreddit, most fans seem to think it’ll be an official release date. While a full-length trailer would be nice, it seems too early to release one.

One Redditor wrote, “I’m assuming the release date will be revealed on Christmas or New Year’s, so maybe this is them confirming Christmas.”

Another user chimed in with something similar, “I think the release date will be revealed on Christmas, and it will be July 1, 2022. If I were to wager.”

It could also just be a marketing move by Netflix

The tweet could just be a way for Netflix to keep the hype about Stranger Things Season 4 at a fever pitch. With the extremely long wait for the upcoming season, it makes sense that Netflix might be worried that the show could lose fans. Many viewers are already concerned about how much older the kids look, while others think season 4 might already be over-hyped.

Right now, there’s no way to know. Thankfully, we’re only a few days away from Christmas. Let’s just hope Santa brings us some exciting Stranger Things news.
