Here’s Where to Stream ‘Diary of a Future President’ Season 2
Elena, Bobby, and Gabi Cañero-Reed return for season 2 of Diary of a Future President. Here’s what we know about this Disney+ original series and how to stream the comedy.
‘Diary of a Future President’ is a Disney+ original series
January 2020 brought several new movie and television shows to Disney’s streaming platform. That included to comedy series titled Diary of a Future President, an original series featuring Gina Rodriguez of Jane the Virgin.
This wouldn’t be the only series created exclusively for Disney’s subscription service. When this streaming platform launched, it featured the Disney Channel-inspired spinoff, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Disney+ also included the first-ever live-action Star Wars series, titled The Mandalorian.
What made Diary of a Future President unique, though, was it told the story of one person, named Elena Cañero-Reed, who eventually became the president of the United States via the memories she wrote in her middle school diary.
Sometimes, those adventures included her family members. Her mother, Gabi, navigated the dating world after the death of her husband. Elena’s brother also went through some “chill” experiences with his tennis partner named Liam.
Is ‘Diary of a Future President’ on Netflix?
Because Diary of a Future President is a Disney+ original series, it will presumably never debut on rival streaming platforms. That includes HBO MAX, Hulu, and Netflix. Most expect this series to also be absent from Disney’s television networks, Disney XD and Disney Channel.
It is, however, available to all Disney+ subscribers. (Some original movies, including Cruella and the live-action adaptation of Mulan were originally only available to subscribers with “Premier Access.”)
‘Diary of a Future President’ season 2 premieres exclusively on Disney’s streaming platform
After months of anticipation, fans learned that the entire second season of Diary of a Future President premieres on Disney+ during August 2021. This news comes months after the first season premiered its finale on the subscription service.
“We are so excited for season 2 and cannot wait to share this next chapter of Diary with viewers,” creator Ilana Peña said during an interview with What’s On What’s Good. “This season, Elena will inch closer to the bright future we know she achieves, but like any origin story, her journey is not without its hurdles and heartaches.”
“She and her family and friends will all continue to grow up and come into their own this year,” she continued. “I promise you’ll laugh, I’m pretty sure you’ll cry, and most of all, I hope this season is as meaningful to watch as it was for all of us to make.”
