What’s Streaming on discovery+ in June 2021: More ’90 Day’ Content, Plus ‘Shock Docs: The Devil Made Me Do It’
Discovery’s new-ish streaming service, discovery+, continues to roll out new series and docs inspired by real life in June 2021. This month’s streaming programming slate includes fresh 90 Day Fiancé content, a documentary about the true story behind the newest Conjuring movie, and a new series sure to appeal to fans of TLC’s My 600-Lb Life.
What to stream on discovery+ in June 2021
Whether you’re a fan of true crime, a firm believer in the paranormal, or addicted to cooking shows, you’ll find something new to watch on discovery+ this month. The $4.99-per-month streaming service, which launched in January 2021, is adding Relentless, a docuseries about a filmmaker’s involvement in the disappearance of a young woman from Hannibal, Missouri; Pushing the Line, an adventure series about “the coolest sport you’ve never heard of”; and Budget Battle, which challenges gourmet chefs to create a meal on a shoestring budget.
‘Relentless’
Relentless focuses on the case of Christina Whittaker, a 21-year-old who vanished from the small town of Hannibal, Missouri. Eight months after her disappearance, filmmaker Christina Fontana met Whittaker’s mother, which eventually led her on an 11-year quest to discover what really happened to Whittaker. The series draws from more than 400 hours of Fontana’s footage and tells the story of both a search for a missing person and a filmmaker’s growing involvement in the story she is documenting. Streaming from June 28.
‘Shock Docs: The Devil Made Me Do It’
Learn the real story behind the upcoming movie The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It in Shock Docs: The Devil Made Me Do It. This documentary examines the case of Arne Johnson, a Connecticut man accused of murder who claimed demonic forces were really behind the shocking crime. Includes interviews with demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, the defendant’s lawyer, and local police. Premieres June 11.
‘Pushing the Line’
Those with a fear of heights will probably want to skip Pushing the Line, a docuseries about the little-known sport of highlining. The series focuses on both top highliners and up-and-comers, who all push each other in this extreme sport, which involves walking on a 1-inch rope suspended hundreds of feet above the ground. Streaming from June 5.
‘Budget Battle’
Frugal cooks will enjoy Budget Battle, where four gourmet chefs go head-to-head to create delicious meals on a shoestring budget. These culinary whizzes will be tested as they attempt to transform everyday ingredients into five-star meals. Streaming from June 3.
‘Too Large’
My 600-lb Life fans will want to hit play on Too Large, another show chronicling people pursuing bariatric surgery in an attempt to lose hundreds of pounds. Each episode follows a patient of Dr. Charles Proctor who wants to lose weight and change their life forever. Streaming from June 2.
‘90 Day Diaries’ and ’90 Day Journey: Pride Month’
Since launching in January, discovery+ has become the home to a number of 90 Day Fiancé spinoffs, including The Other Way Strikes Back and 90 Day Bares All. This month, we get new episodes of 90 Day Diaries, which offers an intimate look at the lives of the show’s couples, told from their perspecitve. Streaming from June 13.
Also coming to discovery+ in June is 90 Day Journey: Pride Month. This series allows viewers to follow each couple’s journey on the show from start to finish without interruption. This month’s new episodes focus on Kenny and Armando and Stephanie and Erika. Streaming from June 6.
