As Succession Season 3 comes to an end, things are exponentially intensifying for the Roys. Much to his siblings’ dismay, Roman Roy’s been riding a high with his dad all season. But according to series star Keiran Culkin, Roman may not get what he’s been striving for.

‘Succession’ Season 3 Episode 8 ends with Roman in trouble

The penultimate episode of Succession Season 3 brings the Roy family together for Lady Caroline Collingwood’s (Harriet Walter) wedding in Toscana, Italy. While Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Logan (Brian Cox), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Connor (Alan Ruck) work out their issues, Roman is harassing Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron) as usual.

Roman and Gerri share a strange sexual history. And after getting several inappropriate pictures from Roman, Gerri quietly asks him to stop sending them. But the request seems to irk Roman, and he reacts by overzealously trying to befriend Gerri’s date.

But things begin to go sideways for Roman once they come back to Waystar. Roman fails to secure the deal with Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), and he also accidentally texts Logan a photo of his genitals with an attached message for Gerri.

Logan reprimands him after talking to Shiv, who throws Roman under the bus. He asks Roman if he’s sick and then suggests firing Gerri. Roman reminds him that Gerri isn’t at fault and awkwardly walks back into the board room.

Kieran Culkin teases Roman won’t do so well by the ‘Succession’ Season 3 finale

Roman brown-nosed his dad all season in hopes he could secure a powerful position at Waystar. But this incident may have muddied all of his efforts. In a chat with Collider, Culkin teased that Roman may not get what he hoped by the finale despite his upward trajectory this season.

“Throughout the season, I can see him actually finding his own voice and getting a backbone and finding out that he is actually capable of doing this job,” the Succession star said. “It is quite a journey for Roman this season. It keeps getting better and better for him until it just maybe doesn’t work out so well.”

Roman may also have to deal with how he treated Kendall

After Kendall threw Logan under the bus in the Succession Season 2 finale, Roman has had it out for his brother. He’s insulted him at every turn. And at Kendall’s birthday party, Roman caused a scene and made very hurtful, below-the-belt comments to his brother.

At the end of the last episode, Kendall lies face down in a pool, presumably drowning. If Kendall is critically injured or dies, Roman may have to look at how he treated his brother. And even if he doesn’t feel guilty himself, Shiv, or perhaps Connor, could shame him into feeling some remorse.

Either way, things aren’t looking up for Roman. And fans will finally get to see how things go down when the Season 3 finale of Succession hits HBO on Sunday, Dec. 12.
