Suge Knight and Sean “Diddy” Combs have been rivals since the mid-1990s. Their relationship has been dangerously fraught for decades. Knight said he sees Diddy as the lowest of the low, but he admitted he still had a sliver of respect for him. He shared why he felt this way.

Suge Knight did not have a high opinion of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

In 1999, Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, and rapper-turned-politician Moses “Shyne” Barrow were arrested following a club shooting. Diddy was acquitted of weapons charges, but Barrow received a 10-year prison sentence. Barrow said he defended Diddy only to have Diddy turn on him.

“When I was an 18-year-old kid, just wanting to do nothing other than make my mother proud and make Belize proud and … be recognized for my talent and take over the world,” he told USA Today. “I was defending him, and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me.”

Knight said that he found the way Diddy treated Barrow despicable.

“I would do what I can do to get [Barrow] out,” he told Wendy Williams, per her book The Wendy Williams Experience. “He don’t necessarily have to be an artist on Tha Row, but I would do it because I think that was like one of the worst things that could happen to anybody. That’s when I had a little, little, little, little respect respect for Puffy. The little respect was ‘cause he’s black. After what he did to Shyne —”

He saw Diddy as a snitch.

“He’s a rat,” Knight said, adding, “I do not like rats. I do not like snitches. I think a rat is the lowest that you can get.”

Tupac’s alleged killer said Diddy wanted Tupac and Suge Knight dead

For years, rumors have swirled that the rivalry between Diddy and Knight was more than just contentious; it was violent. Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the accused killer of Tupac Shakur, alleges that Diddy asked him to kill Tupac and Knight.

Davis claimed that in a 1995 conversation, Diddy told him he wanted Knight and Tupac dead. He alleged that the hip-hop mogul offered him $1 million to carry out the hit.

“This story is beyond ridiculous and completely false,” Diddy told AllHipHop.com. “Neither Biggie nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during, or after it happened. It is a complete lie to suggest that there was any involvement by Biggie or myself.”

He believes Diddy’s life is in danger in jail

Knight is currently serving a 28-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter. Diddy is currently in jail following his arrest for sex trafficking and racketeering. Knight believes Diddy’s level of celebrity could put him at risk in jail.

“I mean, one of the things is this: I don’t care who you are, prison and jail is a negative environment,” Knight said, per Billboard. “Somebody can do something to him and get a name for themself, they gonna actually do it. Or if they can do whatever they feel they gotta do to prove themself.”

Diddy is currently in jail without bail.
