‘Summer House’: Lindsay Hubbard Says She’s ‘Very Happy’ in Her Romance With Carl Radke – ‘Timing is an Interesting Thing’
After weeks of speculation, Lindsay Hubbard confirmed her Summer House romance with Carl Radke. Hubbard and Radke have appeared to be inseparable for months, which fueled speculation they were dating again.
Fans initially thought Hubbard and Radke got back together on Halloween when they shared pictures looking cozy dressed as Baby and Johnny from Dirty Dancing. But then Hubbard continued to deny they were together and said she was still single. But only days before Summer House Season 6 premiered, she was ready to go public with the relationship.
Lindsay Hubbard confirms she and Carl Radke are a couple
Hubbard beamed when asked if she and Radke were together. She confirmed that they were dating “We’re definitely dating!” Hubbard told Page Six. Hubbard added that she and Radke aren’t using a boyfriend or girlfriend label but are very happy.
“We don’t really talk in labels, Carl and I … [But] we’re very much together. We’re very happy,” she added. The couple has always been close and tried to date a few summers ago. Unfortunately, Radke got cold feet. Thankfully they were able to recover their friendship and now Radke is in a different place in his life. He got sober after his brother’s death and seems to be ready for something serious. “We’ve always had this thing for each other. Sometimes you’ll look back and be like, ‘Was I just filling the time until I was ready and he was ready?’” Hubbard said.
Timing is everything for the ‘Summer House’ couple
Hubbard reflected on how timing played a huge role in why they gave romance another shot. “Timing is just an interesting thing,” she said. “When we tried to date a couple of years ago, we were both in such very different headspaces. I honestly feel like I tried to cover up my feelings, but I don’t think those feelings ever died.”
Hubbard dated Stephen “Stravy” Traversie last summer. But viewers watched the relationship crumble when Traversie seemed distracted with work over his relationship with Hubbard. She went on to date Jason Cameron from Winter House. Radke skipped joining the Winter House cast sharing that he was focusing on his sobriety.
“He’s still the same Carl. You just see all of the good [now],” Hubbard remarked. “He eliminated things that would trigger the bad in him — alcohol, for example. He’s still himself. He’s so funny [and] we have so much fun together. We speak the same language.”
Lindsay Hubbard supports Carl Radke in his sobriety
Hubbard added that Radke’s sobriety is also a big priority for her too. “His sobriety has been a huge priority for him and it’s also been a huge priority for me,” she said. “Obviously, we know everything about each other as far as friends — and that’s what makes such a solid foundation for us to be able to navigate his sobriety and [figure out] what his needs are in that capacity, in a new romantic relationship.”
So why was Hubbard so secretive about the relationship? She said viewers will see their friendship evolve this season on Summer House. But she added that she and Radke didn’t need the additional scrutiny since they’ve been down this road in the past. “We wanted a little bit of privacy. We’re not filming right now and we already tried this a couple of years ago. We had a lot of opinions and scrutiny because we tried it while we were filming,” she said.
For his part, Radke seems just as smitten with Hubbard. “I am happy to report that we’re dating,” Radke told US Weekly. “Things are really good. We’re really happy.” He added that Hubbard has been an incredible support to him. Adding, “We’re very very close. Best friends.”
