What is the plot of the show?

Superman & Lois is a direct spinoff of The CW’s hit series, Supergirl, which is currently in its fifth season. Before launching Superman & Lois, producers tested the waters with the characters of Clark Kent, aka Superman, and Lois Lane popping up in various Arrowverse series.

Kara Zor-El’s cousin, Kal-El — known as Clark to the world — made appearances in six episodes of Supergirl, while Lois showed up twice. But the duo also played a part in other Arrowverse shows during the crossover events, Elseworlds and Crisis on Infinite Earths.

The overall response to the twosome was positive, and to the delight of fans, we will see much more of the Kents. Superman and Lois will reimagine the couple as working parents on the backdrop of a comics-based world. Family dynamics will likely play a significant role in the show, considering that Lois’s dad will also be a part of the core group.

Who is in the ‘Superman & Lois’ cast?

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch originated the Arrowverse’s versions of Clark and Lois, and they will reprise their roles in the upcoming Superman & Lois series. Also, a part of the Kent family are sons, Jonathan and Jordan, played by Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin. The latest casting announcement from Deadline relates to the role of Lois’s dad, General Lane. That role went to Dylan Walsh of Nip/Tuck fame.

Will Lex Luthor appear on ‘Superman & Lois’?

Lex Luthor, played brilliantly by Jon Cryer in the Arrowverse, is Superman’s archrival in the comics. However, the sociopathic genius is keeping busy over in National City as Supergirl’s nemesis. Now that Superman & Lois will be a part of the lineup, does that mean that the character will pack his bags and move to Metropolis?

Since the Arrowverse is known for its interconnected storylines, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Lex could pull double duty on Supergirl and Superman & Lois, splitting his time between National City and Metropolis. What’s more, the Arrowverse’s LaMonica Garrett, who plays The Monitor and Anti-Monitor, was credited as a series regular on several Arroverse shows simultaneously during the 2019-2020 broadcast season. Here’s hoping that Jon Cryer and his alter ego, Lex, will appear on both shows, give grief to the Kryptonian heroes, and stick around for the foreseeable future.

When will ‘Superman & Lois’ premiere?

As reported by Deadline, the coronavirus pandemic that has paralyzed Hollywood derailed production of the Superman & Lois pilot. Consequently, the series will move straight into their 13-episode production order once the crews and cast members are cleared to return to work after the threat of the outbreak subsides. With any luck, fans can expect The CW to premiere Superman & Lois as scheduled during the 2020-2021 broadcast season.
