‘Superman & Lois’ Star Emmanuelle Chiriqui Says Lana’s Family Will Finally Get to ‘Reset’
The Cushing family faced multiple Kryptonian threats on the latest episode of Superman & Lois. But according to Emmanuelle Chriqui, the actor who plays Lana Cushing on the CW series, the Cushings will get a much-needed reset.
Lana saves the day on ‘Superman & Lois’
In episode 10 of Superman & Lois, “O Mother, Where Art Thou,” Lana and Sarah (Inde Navarrette) learn that Kyle (Erik Valdez) signed up for Morgan Edge’s (Adam Rayner) program and had a sentient Kryptonian put inside him.
Sarah believed her father was acting out because of his alcohol addiction. But Jon (Jordan Elsass) and Jordan (Alex Garfin) tell her the truth and take her to see Kyle in DOD custody.
Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) clue Lana in on Edge and the technology he used on Kyle. She offers herself up as a vessel for Lara Lor-Van (Kal-El’s mother), hoping the Kryptonian scientist can help cure Kyle and the other Smallville residents affected.
With Lana and Lara’s help, Superman uses the Kryptonian tech to wipe the emerging sentients out of all the people Edge infected, including Kyle.
‘Superman & Lois’ star Emmanuelle Chriqui says Lana’s family can finally reset
The Cushings have been dealing with a host of struggles since the beginning of the season. With Smallville’s economy tanking, Kyle’s had a tough time finding a good job. And his demons have been taking a toll on the entire family.
But in an interview with EW, Superman & Lois star Emmanuelle Chriqui revealed that the recent Krytponian drama would pave the way for a Cushing family reset.
“For a long time, it was almost like you just wanted Lana to say to Kyle, ‘Enough with this obsession with Edge! Stop it.’ But she couldn’t say that,” Chriqui said. “So I feel like at least now that’s all out on the table, and that chapter is done.”
“And I do think that’s exactly what happens,” she added. “Also, Sarah Cushing knows the truth now and has just renewed compassion for her parents and what they’ve lived through. In a lot of ways, I feel like there’s a reset that happens after this.”
But Lana isn’t going to find out about Clark being Superman anytime soon
Clark’s glasses really seem to do the trick. When Lana sees Superman up close for the first time, she does not recognize him as Clark — even though she dated him and has known him her whole life. And according to Chriqui, Lana’s latest bout with Kryptonian drama still won’t be enough to make her put two and two together.
“It’s so out of control. It’s so weird, but this is their existence, right?” the actor told EW. “I don’t think she realizes this has anything to do with Clark. It’s just like, ‘Wow! They move back, and s**t hits the fan again?’ But I don’t think she’s placed it yet.”
