Very little has been seen or heard from singer Nelly Furtado. The Canadian star was one of the 2000’s biggest artists, with hits like I’m Like a Bird and Maneater. She seemed to be everywhere and then, suddenly, was gone from sight.

After her big debut album, Whoa, Nelly! in 2000, Furtado released Loose in 2006. The latter was the result of a magical collaboration between Furtado and superstar producer Timbaland, who made a huge name for himself as a celebrated hip-hop producer, especially for his work with Aaliyah, Missy, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and Duran Duran.
Post-Loose, the Turn Off the Light star recorded Mi Plan, a Spanish-language album, earning her a 2010 Latin Grammy for Female Pop Vocal Album of the Year. She followed that up with The Spirit Indestructible in 2012, selling 10 million copies, according to Amazon.
And then in 2017, after a long break, she recorded and released The Ride, which sold an underwhelming 1,900 copies in the United States.
After The Ride, Furtado hasn’t really been heard from, that is, the artist hasn’t released any new music.
Her marriage and rumored relationships
The Promiscuous singer married sound engineer Demacio Castellon in 2008 and quietly divorced in 2016. Appearing on the British program, Loose Women in 2017, Furtado joked, “Someone here needs to update my Wikipedia — it’s not helping my dating life!”
She described the downtime she went through after the break-up. “I went through an emotionally difficult time last summer and I actually wrote and sung myself songs to get through it,” she explained. “I would sing to myself while I drove on these long drives and I thought to myself, ‘I’m so lucky that I can write songs because I can soothe myself with them.’”
Previously, the Grammy winner had been in a relationship with Jasper Gahunia, with whom she shares a daughter, Nevis.
She most recently has been seen with rapper Gerard Long II (Hodgy), but it’s unknown if the pair’s relationship is still ongoing.

She said on the program, “The reality is that people get sick,” Furtado added. “But Magic Johnson showed that it’s not the end of your life, but the beginning of awareness. When Magic contracted HIV, that was a pivotal point in AIDS awareness. It showed that anybody could get this disease.”
