‘Surreal Life’ Is Coming Back: VH1’s Plans for the Reboot
The Surreal Life was an iconic reality TV series that initially ran on VH1 from 2004 to 2006. But now, the network is bringing the show back this fall. Here’s everything you need to know about The Surreal Life reboot from VH1.
‘The Surreal Life’ puts a group of celebrities in a house together
You never know what to expect when eight stars come together for a wild, over the top journey that pushes them to reveal different sides of themselves in surprising ways. Much like The Real World, The Surreal Life puts a random group of celebrities together in a house for our entertainment.
When the series moved from The WB to VH1, producers filmed The Surreal Life in singer, songwriter, and actor Glen Campbell’s former mansion in the Hollywood Hills. Throughout the show’s run, The Surreal Life spawned several spinoff shows including The Surreal Life: Fame Games and the …Of Love series like Rock of Love With Bret Michaels and Flavor of Love.
More than that, The Surreal Life sparked America’s Next Top Model star Adrianne Currey’s marriage to Brady Bunch star Christopher Knight. Then there was Flavor Flav’s romance and spinoff series Strange Love with Brigette Neilsen.
‘The Surreal Life’ cast 2021
In the past, celebrities like Corey Feldman, Ron Jeremy, Vanilla Ice, and Charro appeared in various seasons of The Surreal Life. The 2021 reboot of the series will feature Stormy Daniels, Dennis Rodman, August Alsina, Tamar Braxton, Frankie Muniz, Kim Coles, CJ Perry, and Manny Mua.
Like the original Surreal Life, these celebrities will live together in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills. At this time, it’s unclear if they’ll use Campbell’s estate as they did in the past. What is clear is that these celebs will compete in a series of challenges.
“The Surreal Life is known for bringing together some of the biggest names in pop culture and creating many unforgettable moments in reality television,” Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer of MTV Entertainment Group, tells Deadline. “We are excited to see how this stellar celebrity cast will make captivating television for audiences everywhere.”
MTV is also rebooting old shows like ‘Cribs’ and ‘Behind the Music’
