‘Survivor’ Season 41: Has Jeff Probst Really Hosted the Show For all Those Seasons?
Reality competitions and game shows frequently cycle through hosts over the years. However, Survivor has only had one host for its entire run. A familiar face returned yet again in Survivor Season 41 as Jeff Probst addressed contestants yet again. As the only host of a long-running series, how long exactly has Jeff Probst hosted Survivor?
‘Survivor’ has never been hosted by anyone other than Jeff Probst
Some shows like to change things up and feature guest hosts. Jeopardy has tried this in the wake of losing Alex Trebek.
As of Survivor Season 41, though, Jeff Probst has remained the only one ever to host the show. And even after hosting since 2000, he still loves the job.
Survivor Season 41 Episode 4, Probst comforted a contestant after she suffered a loss.
“One of the reasons I’m still here 21 years later is because of moments like that,” he said to contestant Heather Aldret.
Heather struggled to complete a reward challenge. However, Probst mentioned that her effort and determination were one of the reasons he continued hosting.
“I love the gameplay of Survivor. But I really like it when somebody’s vulnerable and lets us watch and is rewarded with love from their competitors. That’s gotta make you feel a little better.”
Jeff Probst hosted ‘Survivor’ since 2000
Luckily, the math remains reasonably easy. The first season of Survivor aired on May 31, 2000. This date also marked Probst’s debut as the definitive Survivor host.
Survivor Season 41 aired its first episode on September 22, 2021.
Probst has hosted Survivor for 21 years, 3 months, and 21 days as of the beginning of season 41. The show’s 2021 season seems to be the years of ‘21s.’
While several changes have affected the show over the years, Probst remained a constant.
However, some fans worry about how long that could last. Audiences could tell that something was off in the TV personality’s voice.
Fans noticed a raspy voice in season 41, episode 2
During the second episode of Survivor Season 41, fans noticed something off about host Jeff Probst. His voice seemed raspy.
Fans wondered if he strained his voice yelling, caught a bug, or something else.
“Jeff appeared to lose his voice after narrating the events in the double-immunity challenge. While Jeff’s voice sounded normal leading up to the challenge and while he was commentating, he began to sound raspy almost immediately after it concluded,” Distractify reported.
The concern could come from how Probst has aged over the years. When he started hosting Survivor, Probst was 38 years old.
Probst turns 60 in 2021.
“Later on in the episode, when the CBS personality announced that the players in the losing tribe were headed to Tribal Council, his volume was much more subdued in comparison to his normally-energetic manner of speaking,” Distractify continued.
While there has been no official comment on Probst’s voice, fans only want the best for the longtime Survivor host.
