Spoiler alert: Which two castaways were voted out before the Final Tribal Council in Survivor Season 42?
The finale of Survivor Season 42 begins with the final five arriving at a new beach, which spoils the castaways’ happiness from the Omar blindside. They have to start from scratch with no tarp or shelter.
Romeo informs his tribemates that he has an immunity idol and will play it at the next Tribal Council. But, as the audience knows, he doesn’t actually have an idol. But Romeo did construct a fake one to show the other players. Elsewhere, Mike tells Lindsay that he’ll give her his idol if he wins the Immunity Challenge. But he said the same thing to Maryanne.
The final five receive tree mail that includes a riddle that would tell them where to find an advantage for the Immunity Challenge, similar to season 41. Lindsay, aided by Maryanne deliberately slowing the guys down, gets the advantage. At the challenge, Lindsay only has to untie one knot, while everyone else has to untie six knots. However, the advantage doesn’t help her, and Mike wins Individual Immunity.
At Tribal Council, Mike plays his idol for Maryanne. And the castaways send Lindsay packing in a 4-1 vote.
The final four compete in their last Immunity Challenge, the classic, Simmotion. Romeo pulls out the win, and he takes Maryanne with him to the final three, sending Mike and Jonathan to the final four fire-making challenge. Spoiler alert: During an intense showdown, Mike beats Jonathan to secure his place in the Survivor Season 42 top three. And Jonathan joins the jury.
Maryanne, Mike, and Romeo plead their case to the jury
Maryanne, Mike, and Romeo head into the Final Tribal Council in Survivor Season 42, which will either confirm or negate the winner spoilers. And they begin to explain why they deserve to win Survivor.
Mike has to defend his multiple betrayals that led to his alliance members joining the jury. He claims that his social game was to make people like him so that they would give him information. Mike also discusses how he organized a blindside against Hai. Toward the end of the tribal, Mike acknowledges that he wasn’t always a man of his word in order to get to the end.
Maryanne explains that part of her strategy was to emphasize her youth and aloofness and then bring her intelligence out later in the game. She also emphasizes her big move of roping Romeo in to take Omar out. As for her physical game, Maryanne talks about making palm fronds at camp. And she reveals she found the merge idol, and Maryanne didn’t even have to use it.
Romeo admits he had never gone camping before Survivor, but he still made it to the final three. And he points out how he won the final four Immunity Challenge. As for strategy, Romeo brings up how he made the fake idol to secure his fate in the final four.
Spoiler alert: Maryanne Oketch is crowned the Sole Survivor of Survivor Season 42
As Jeff Probst discussed with Entertainment Weekly before the Survivor Season 42 finale aired, the host read the winner votes at the Final Tribal Council. And in a 7-1-0 vote, the jury has crowned Maryanne the Sole Survivor.
Chanelle, Rocksroy, Tori, Hai, Drea, Omar, and Lindsay voted for Maryanne. And Jonathan was the sole vote for Mike.
And just like that, Survivor Season 42 has come to an end. Thankfully, Survivor Season 43 will premiere sometime in the fall of 2022, so fans can expect to hear new spoilers about the upcoming game very soon.
