‘Survivor’ Season 42 Premiere Time and Where to Watch
CBS’s Survivor fans can look forward to a new season of twists and turns with host Jeff Probst, as season 42 is finally here. Season 42 of the series was filmed at the same time as season 41. The new contestants have no idea what they’re in for with the new, fast-paced gameplay. So, when is the Survivor Season 42 premiere date and time? And how can fans catch it live or stream it later?
What time does ‘Survivor’ Season 42 come on?
Survivor Season 42 premieres Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. Episode 1 has a two-hour season premiere. The season will continue to air every Wednesday at the same time on CBS. The first episode, titled “Feels Like a Rollercoaster,” has the following synopsis: “Eighteen new castaways begin their battle for $1 million and the title of Sole Survivor.”
Like Survivor Season 41, season 42 takes place over 26 days. Pre-coronavirus (COVID-19), the gameplay took place over the course of 39 days. The shortened seasons mean more action and more twists and turns within a shorter timeframe. This makes it even more difficult for the 18 castaways to become the Sole Survivor.
“This cast is a great group of people,” Survivor host Jeff Probst says in a video posted to the CBS Instagram. “I am super pumped to have them out there because Survivor‘s a great format — you just have to have interesting people, and we do.”
How to watch the season premiere
How can fans watch the two-hour Survivor Season 42 premiere? The premiere airs on CBS for those with cable. It also airs live on Paramount+ for those with a premium subscription to the service, and it’s available to stream on Paramount+ the day after it airs.
For those without cable, Tom’s Guide notes live TV services like FuboTV, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV, and DirecTV Stream also offer fans a way to watch the premiere live. FuboTV comes highly recommended as a streaming service, and it also comes with a free trial.
Fans hoping to catch up on previous seasons of Survivor can catch them on Paramount+ as well. Because Survivor Season 41 was filmed at the same time as 42, the season is the perfect precursor to what might happen in the new season.
The ‘Survivor’ Instagram and Twitter released the first 4 minutes of the season premiere
Fans looking forward to the Survivor Season 42 premiere can watch the first four minutes of the premiere on social media.
“Last season birthed a new era of Survivor,” host Jeff Probst says at the beginning of the video. “Twenty-six days, a relentless pace. No food, penalties for losing, and these crazy dangerous twists.” Probst then noted some twists from season 41 will stay the same for the Survivor Season 42 cast — but some twists have been tweaked, and other twists are brand new.
Entertainment Weekly deciphered the very first twist in the game that’s revealed in the first four minutes, too. The board reads:
“You must wait for all three players before you make your decision. Good news! This part of the challenge requires zero effort from you! So if you want, you can grab your paddles and race back to your tribe. Or … You can agree to secretly work together … and each earn an advantage in the process. You must each untie 20 knots to retrieve your advantage …. To cover your lie, spread mud and fake blood over your body to prove how hard you worked to get your paddles. You’re only moments into the game … and you already have your first big opportunity.”
We’re excited to see how this twist — and the other changes — all play out for the 18 castaways starting on March 9, 2022.
